A couple of their employees sold me a "new" Smith & Wesson M&P Shield with a (very) used barrel. I've never fired it but it's FULL of copper fouling. Also, the extractor (not shown) is pitted/rusted. My hunch is that some Dunham's employees were taking it out to the range before selling it to me. OR, perhaps one of them switched out the barrel and took the new one for their own S&W M&P Shield? I'll never know for sure. I wish I inspected the firearm before I left their store. But I didn't field strip it until a couple days after I bought it. I've tried for a YEAR to rectify this problem (it all started around this time last year,) but this particular Dunham's store as well as their Corporate office blew me off. I also called Smith & Wesson the same day I discovered the used barrel. They looked up the serial number and thought it was strange because this firearm was manufactured a couple years prior, and they, like me, also wondered where it's been for the couple years before I bought it. They (Smith & Wesson) told me I should definitely work out a solution with Dunham's. But this Dunham's store, as well as Dunham's Corporate office, (not in these exact words,) basically told me to get lost. All I wanted from Dunham's (as I made clear to them several times) was for them to replace this obviously used firearm with what I paid for... a brand new, never used, Smith and Wesson M&P Shield Plus. It's a very common firearm and it should have been absolutely no problem at all for them to make this right and sell me what I PAID for. But no. All I heard from them is "there's nothing we can do." I even contacted the Portage MI police department as soon as I discovered this issue (around this time last year) and I told them about this used-gun situation, because if by chance this firearm was ever used for something unsavory before being sold to me, I did not want my name associated with something like that. (As a rule, I do NOT buy firearms without knowing where they've been, who used them, and why.) The police dept. 100% understood my concern, and acknowledged that this is indeed a concerning matter, and they filed this firearm's serial number in their records in case anything strange is revealed down the road. A couple weeks ago I finally gave up and wound up selling it for $200 to a gun store. They obviously know it's used and of course they are selling it as such... USED.... unlike the shady employees at Dunham's, who were passing it off as "new." I no longer trust Dunham's in the SLIGHTEST. They're shady and frankly a bit scummy for showing no concern about serious issues like this. Customers shouldn't be treated like a joke...
Read moreI was in Dunham's before Christmas hoping I might come away with something on one of the lists I was given but came up empty. It's not necessarily that they don't have a decent selection. There are a lot of things in there. It's a big store. I just hardly ever find anything that seems all that discounted. And when you walk in you feel it right away... the lifelessness. It's like something sucked all the life out of the building. And the workers seem to be in their own little world's having their own little conversations. Totally oblivious to actual customers. On my most recent visit I purposely loitered near a couple of employees for two or three minutes to see if one of them might actually ask me if they could help me find anything. But, alas, they ignored me altogether as is usually the case. I went there one time over the summer looking for some new tennis shoes. I walked around in the shoe department for ten minutes and no one approached me. I had to go to the front of the store to ask the one girl I could find if I could get someone to help me. Ridiculous. I honestly don't know how they stay open. I've never seen more than five cars in the parking lot at one time. Ghost town. Anyway you can tell I'm not impressed. Actually debated a two-star rating but am feeling generous tonight. But don't take my word for it. Give it a try. See if I'm wrong. Hopefully you'll have better...
Read moreName brands with high name brand prices. Very lackluster selection of bicycle accessories and apparel. I purchased a bike lock, that disappointingly did not come with the 2 copies of a key the package should have contained, my bad for not opening the packaging and checking to be sure the new lock had the essential keys to operate it. Also There were tables with a clearance label stating the price of the socks contained on them, but socks from the lowest priced table were actually not supposed to be there and in fact were only a few cents cheaper than socks not on clearance at all. Sadly the displayed prices were not the actual prices. In the end it's a huge store and they offer a lot of name brand goods, maybe I just had an unfortunate experience this time. There's always a chance they make all their money selling guns and don't really care about the state of every other department.... I am probably wrong but the included picture with my review says something, or I am...
