Hodgson Light Log and Patio — Local services in Portage

One of the best service experiences ever. We purchased lighting and ceiling fans from Hodgson as that's where our builder sent us. Our interactions with the sales person was positive, and she was very knowledgeable. Less than 2 years after purchase and installation, an expensive ceiling fan failed. Not knowing who put it in (Hodgson or electrician), I called Hodgson. Jessica took the call, I explained the issue and timeframe, and she promised to research it and talk to the electrical technician, Jason. Jason wasn't supposed to get to me until the next day; he called me late that evening to let me know he got the message and would be out soon. He was out the next day, right when he said he would be. He immediately identfied the issue and corrected it. On another fan (same make/model) that had an issue, he took the time to fix it and educate me on what was going on. The customer service is awful! The nose in the air attitude for such an old stuffy place is so antiquated at this point. I never got ONE smile the whole time in there and we have 3 HOMES to buy lighting for! I came in and found the perfect light at a great price. I asked about the pricing and was told "this is the price until they are all gone". I came back a few days later and asked for the light. I was then charged on my card. 10 min. go by and I'm told that they have no stock but I can have the display AT NO DISCOUNT?! Interesting way to handle their mistake....she then made a "return" and made a new charge for THE SAME LIGHT for $10 more! The only apology that was offered was very condescending "I am sorry our computer inventory was wrong" with NO SMILE NO PERSONALITY ugh worst...

What a great place to shop for high end products, that add to our homes and comforts. Very professional staff have assisted us at every visit and the inventory is pretty amazing. IF you are budget shopping, it may not be your best option. Tho, you can find some deals on those higher end items, if you take some time and ask. Sales persons do work on commission, so be understanding that people are there to earn their living. Be courteous, or move on. Extraordinary products if you are seeking that standout lighting or beautiful heating and fire options. They have contractors ready to assist you, IF you are not a capable DIYer. Give them a look IF you are designing or upgrading...
