Given that they just opened and they’re a “fast food” style restaurant, you should probably set your expectations accordingly. I think some of these reviews are a bit much.
I have been here 3 times now. Today I had a very nice and friendly cashier. The last 2 times previous to today, I will say I agree with a few of the other reviews stating the opposite.
So far I’ve tried the pulled chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders.
The pulled chicken is pretty good! I’ve had it twice and both times the chicken is a bit cool when I get to my table, and since you typically wait about 15 minutes I would expect my food to be a bit more warm at the least.
The chicken tenders might be my favorite in the area!!! My son is obsessed with them already so I tried them today, and they are great! My only issue is I ordered two kid tender meals today plus 2 additional tenders, and like 4 out of the 6 tenders total were Nashville hot. They were good still, but I would have preferred the regular tenders, and my 6 year old especially is not a fan of food that spicy, nor was I expecting them in a kids meal in general..
The Mac and cheese is great, the fries are usually soggy, and the cornbread……. I’m just going to say I’m not a fan of the cornbread at all, but I would say I’m also very picky about cornbread.
The dining area can get cramped very fast, but 2/3 times I’ve gone on Saturday afternoons, so that is to be expected for anywhere on Westnedge probably. I’m also not sure how I feel about the self serve bbq sauce area. The labels are pretty faded already and hard to read, and I’ve seen a lot of people touch the nozzle with their hands already.
My only “complaint” or maybe a better word is “wish”: I would love to see family packs or catering options for the chicken tenders!!
Overall, I think this place is great, they just have a few kinks to work out being new. My son asks to go all the time and I...
Read moreI have to say...I was very impressed with my visit to City BBQ this afternoon for lunch today. Started out walking up to the front doors and Employee Arie was cleaning all the tables and also made attempt to stop and greet with a more then welcoming smile at us as we were walking up to the front doors. I must say this was outstanding. We then go in to the walk way inside and right away were Greeted by Adam with yet another smile and super enthusiastic...he mentioned and made sure we were informed about the app and Wednesday special through the app. super inviting and felt very welcomed...then not to mention that the facility was super clean all the employees were wearing clean clothes the floors were taken care of the facility was organized and even the wait time for fresh food and no upcharges on extra sauce or anything like that. Superb Business and obviously great management "ADAM". before I end this review crystal and the Prep cook was awesome also. Crystal has been there quite sometime that I know of and is always super accommodating!!! Thank you for everything CITY BBQ DOES ON THE "A TEAM" / DAY TEAM. I WOULD DEFFINITLY COME BACK.
SIDE NOTE: I will have to try City BBQ's B TEAM / NIGHT TEAM to see if they are just...
Read moreWe found ourselves wanting BBQ, so we took the family to City BBQ to give it a solid try from our normal places in town. .
The turkey was good, had a modest amount of flavor but felt on the dry side.
The pulled pork was moderately juicy, had a visible smoke ring on the bark pieces and had a typical flavor.
The brisket was bone dry, and I mean drier than Queen Elizabeth's nether regions. Had good flavor though but this was the driest and most bland brisket I've ever tried.
The sausage was also dry and on the weak side for taste, it resembled an elongated prune more than a cooked meat.. so dry!
Hush puppies were perfect mix of crunch and profile. Yum!
Mac and cheese was on par with decent quality, using cavatapi noodles.
Cornbread was portioned nicely and was the best thing we got. Very tasty.
The inside of the restaurant was clean, had a good vibe to it and the ambient music was entrancing. This was expensive though, and pairing that with the list above, doesn't make me feel like I'll come back as often as I'd like to.
They have drive through as well. A bonus for on the go people.
Overall, an average experience. 3/5. "Meh"
Barrett's smokehouse or Skinny Kenny's are where I feel the best BBQ is in the...
