I always love to go there to get bamboo and their decor. but I won't be going ever again. First off when I was paying for the bamboo the person running the cash register was on call with a fellow worker whom they had on speaker. The person that was on the phone was very rude when the cash resister worker was asking a question WHILE they were checking my items out. after they ended the call the register worked(no name tag, had dark brown/black short hair that is swept to one side) noted that the other worker was in a bad mood. my friend and I got distracted by the items by the front desk and continued to look around after my purchase and to my disgust I found this "tank." I have been in the fish business for a bit off time now and I can tell you THAT IS NOT A TANK! I mentioned to my friend not to the worker that I felt bad for the fish since he does not have a filter nor heater. the worker (who I wasnt even talking to) quite rudely replied that "its actually okay for that type to be in there with the bacteria." For starters "that type of fish" is an adult male crown tail betta. which are TROPICAl FISH. which means they need a heater for their water to be at 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. they also need a filter. keeping a fish without a filter is the equalivent to never cleaning a hamster cage and letting the filth and waste build up until the animal gets sick and dies. if you zoom in on the picture you can see at the bottom of the tank a collection of uneaten food and fish poop piling up. I also don't know what type of "bacteria" the worker thinks is in that tank to make this okay but no such thing exists. I will not be returning until that poor fish is in a real tank. fish, like all pets are living creatures that do not deserve to be mistreated. I understand that it is a common misconception among many non fish owners that bettas do good in small bowls with no heater or filter. but if any store worker simply did a google search they would find that bettas need better housing than that. they may survive in a tiny bowl but they will not be happy or live long just the same as a hamster wouldn't live long. I am writing this review in hopes that something will be done about this and to educate the staff and others about the needs of living creatures. not only is it bad for the betta they have but its also misinformation to all of the customers that visit and see these "tanks" that are advertised for fish when in fact there should be kept only for plant tanks. If for any reason there is an issue re-homing this beautiful fish please contact me. I will be more than happy to take him home with me where he would be very happy in any of my 5gal+ tanks that are fully cycled and ready to go. please do not hesitate to contact me, I would love to help

This store is lovely! It’s a little bit on the expensive side, but most of the items are very high quality and beautiful. I love going here by myself or with friends, it never disappoints! It has helped my spiritual journey along, and my business grow. If you don’t buy anything, it’s worth visiting to look at all of the beautiful masterpieces! We haven’t gotten accused of stealing, but I do recommend being careful! The Sleeping Tiger in Portage mall and Grand Rapids mall is safe, as I’ve seen.

Unique items. Very trusting employees as we walked in and looked around for few minutes and never saw an employee.

I would just like to say, I am a 20 year old black female I've been shopping at this store for over a year now and this had become my all time favorite store ever. Never have I ever been treated The way I was treated today...

I walked in the store and was greeted by girl who looked about my age, very friendly and helpful. An older employee in her late 40's, possibly even early 50's did not greet me when I said hello. When I asked her about some merchandise that wasn't thwre the last time I had been in the store, she didn't answer me until I said excuse me. Then Of course anybody can say "I didn't hear you" but I was standing right next to her and she didn't answer me until I said excuse me.

An older white couple walks in and she goes out of her way to greet them and holdc conversation. When I first walked in, I took a video of the Newton balance balls and the younger girl had asked me, jokingly, if she ruined my Snapchat because we were talking. NOT ONCE did she tell me we weren't allowed to do that. I told her I was doing window shopping for my apartment and she was helpful with everything I'd asked her about.

So I was back looking more towards the back of the store @ purses and the older lady came up to me after following me around the store. She accused me of taking pictures of the merchandise and told me "normally, people buy stuff" which I then got upset and told her "I've shopped here before". "It's called window shopping and that's what I'm doing today". She made it a personal issue by saying she didn't want me taking picture "I" the entire time she followed me around and then said "HE doesn't like pictures bein taken of the stuff"...so now it's somebody else that doesn't want pictures taken..maybe it doesn't sound like much but I SINCERELY felt targeted. If no pictures were to be taken why didn't the other girl tell me?

Maybe I was wrong for taking a Snapchat But there was a more pleasant PROFESSIONAL way of doing it---Not "can I ask why you're taking pictures". On my way out of the store I wished the younger girl good luck with the rest of her day and started writing this.

You guys should really be careful who you hire...hire people with an AUTHENTIC pleasure of providing good...

Sleeping Tiger Import's has some pretty slick sales selction. If anyone is looking for a really cool rock go to the Sleeping TIger Imports in Portage Mi, I have hade bad experince at this store with the manger. I was walking bye there with my friend and the manger was standing at the entrance on the phone then she said to me and my friend"You guys are not welcomed back in this store. The manger told us that we was hanging out in there to much when all we was doing is looking around. She was trying to give me and my friend a time limit of being in the store like you guys only have 5 minutes to shop then we have to leave. She is telling me that i am a distraction to the Employee's that works there because all I do is say hi to them then i go on with my shopping. The manger of Sleeping Tiger Imports manger could use some classes about how to treat here custmors she needs to learn respect.Other than the manger the other Co-workers are good people they are very respectful to all...
