Abernethy Flats — Local services in Portland

I’ve lived here a year and a half and it’s been a pretty mediocre experience. Management is non existent and switches hands every few months. It’s impossible to contact anyone who works for the building. Rent is really expensive for a building with ZERO amenities. Most new buildings have gyms, rooftop lounges, a community room, etc. Not here, but you sure will be paying the same price as a building that does! Packages get stolen constantly. Bikes get stolen out of the “secure” bike room. The location is decent but for what you’re paying you might as well rent from Goat Blocks and actually get some amenities. The apartments are pretty but really cheaply made. Cabinet doors fall off. The finish on the cabinets shows every single finger and hand print. The water pressure in the bathroom is trash. If you have a shower instead of a tub, the bathroom will flood every time you take a shower. Also the lower units facing east are incredibly dark, in all seasons. If you enjoy sunlight, avoid this building.

Edit: The new building manager did finally email me after I posted this review. They didn’t contact me at all the numerous times times I tried emailing and calling. I tried to reach someone from the building for over TWO months. Clearly they only care about roping in new tenets, and not existing ones. Also she tried to divert the blame by saying she got dumped and that’s why she couldn’t respond to emails....

Abernethy Flats is a beautiful building, and the apartments are full of beautiful features and elements. While this seems to be a great place to live in central-Southeast, the current property management agency is terrible.

Atlas will misinform you on pricing multiple times, they will be incredibly tardy with communication, and their unprofessional decorum is unsettling for anyone looking to lease. After hoping that Atlas would show qualities of good customer service for their continued mistakes, nothing happened. I really hope that in the future they will learn to be better business people. But for now, I would recommend staying away from leasing with this company.

I am very thankful that I was able to see their management style prior to signing any lease contract. There are many more buildings with better pricing, amenities, and management companies...

I’ve been living here for nearly 3 months, and I really have no complaints at all. This is a brand new building and with that, there will always be hiccups. I’ve been really impressed with how accommodating and communicative management has been in the few times hiccups have come up. If given the opportunity to do it all over, I definitely would choose Abernethy Flats again. Beautiful building, great location, and any time I’ve needed anything— management has delivered. Love calling...
