Gateway Transit Center — Local services in Portland

A lot of people think this is a scary and dangerous area, but honestly I’ve never had any issues with people here. This is a very well-kept station, and we tend to park our car for the day while exploring the city and people have always respected our privacy/personal space. There’s always several transit security guards on constant watch of the station and a police officer patrols the area consistently throughout the day. One of the local hubs I use often now that I live closer to Sandy than downtown Portland. There are a lot of things to do here, from shopping, to food, to entertainment and beauty. There are mall restaurants inside the mall itself, but a number of other places to eat attached to the mall. There is also a beauty salon, a Barnes and Noble with a Starbucks, and many of the popular mall stores one would expect, as well as a few specialty stores. There is also a lovely koi pond. I am so upset everyday when I watch my train leave, as I'm walking that football field distance from the airport stop. It feels like the spent millions of dollars just to piss people off with building that BS. For 30 years trimet continues to shock me on thier stupid decisions, and it never gets better. Homless people still jack off and do hard drugs on the trains. I se it weekly..but noooo let's not fix that....instead let's make people watch thier trains leave when trying to transfer.
