Hawthorne Game Exchange is really an awesome video game store! I have lived in the Tabor area for a long time and was a patron at the previous business at this location CD/Game Xchange for years, theyโre gone now and Hawthorne Game Exchange has opened with a focus on mainly video games! Iโm talkin new games, old games, retro game cartridges, import Japanese games, controllers, used video game consoles, unique odds n ends and even video game music on vinyl records!! From the moment I walked into the store I had a BIG smile on my face seeing all the old school games I have all those golden memories of growing up and beyond. ๐ฎ I met a staff member Christina - she is totally awesome & very helpful! I can truly tell sheโs passionate about gaming! She really made me feel welcome and was someone I could immediately relate with about gaming plus she really made my overall first experience that much More Memorable!! ๐๐พ I left with a handful of great ol titles from NES, SNES, SEGA Genesis and Game Gear and a wholesome feeling on my first visit! ๐น This is the kind of video game shop that we need in our city - it really has the personal connection that is completely lost when shopping online. The human interaction. Being able to physically browse the cartridges hanging on the rack. Admiring the awesome retro artworks on the labels. Having experts who are friendly and stoked to be helpful. Not condescending or too cool to be bothered. This is my new Favorite game store in town! I plan on coming back many more times because itโs just that good!! Thank...

We were looking around for the PS4 game section blindly with no knowledge of the store. They continued to talk upon one another while we wandered around them. Not even offering any assistance. Finally finding what were looking for which so happened to be right next to the entrance. A caucasian male walked in and both employees dropped their convo and welcomed him in. Two mins later, a caucasian female walked in and she was greeted the same way. Then another caucasian female walked in and she also was greeted very welcoming. At this point, we decided to leave due to the obvious unfairness we were treated because of our skin color. As we left, we weren't surprised to still receive no words from either employee. No parting comment or thanking us for coming in. I can be optimistic and say that they both might have been having a bad day while smiling and laughing among one another. And flashing all three caucasian individuals a bright smile while welcoming them into the store. I guess we came 2 mins too early to receive the same...

My wife and I bought a used PS3 Slim 120 GB fo $30 less than same model Refurbished from Gamestop(GS). The guy behind the counter informed me that this unit was factory sealed, never refurbished. He suggested that refurbished consoles may continue to experience issues after they've been serviced. As for warranties, CD Game Exchange (CGE) gave us a 30 day guarantee. This is great when compared to only 7 days from GS. We were able to purchase several games ranging from $5-$15, all of which seem to be in great condition. Out the door for $122 we got a Blu-ray player, a streaming device with HD output, 4 games, and 3 DVDs. Staff was very helpful and offered to look up titles in stock at other locations to request they be shipped to Hawthorne. He found a copy of Gran Tourismo 5 at a different location for $2.50 and it will only take a few days to arrive. I was told he can find Dvds, Blu-ray movies, CDs, and even vinyl records to be shipped in from other locations at no cost...
