I had the opportunity to visit this Portland local shop yesterday for the first time since I live in Canada and don't have the opportunity to go to Portland all the time. I found the selection very solid, with half decent pricing, plus I like how they will allow you to listen to the album to make sure you like it. However, upon listening to the album Valleyheart by She Wants Revenge, the employee still wanted to hear it... they, then informed me that they had another sealed copy and put that in the bag instead. To my own stupidity I did NOT check the quality of the vinyl's cover. Thus, to my surprise, when I pulled it out of the bag when I arrived home, the cover's corners are smashed in, it's damaged all over the place and I am thoroughly NOT impressed whatsoever. That employee should have told me it was nowhere near the mint condition shape, the other was in. Now if I want a copy I need to drive 6 hrs to get it replaced which I don't have the time for. So unless they decide after reading this review to ship me the other copy free of charge, I won't be shopping there anytime I return. It will be 2nd Avenue records all the way. (I can provide photos to prove it... and if you say that it's the way I handled it or it could have been damaged throughout the drive back home, then why was the other 12 records I purchased, when I handpicked all of them in mint condition?!) So very, very...
Read moreToday was the first and last time I'll ever go into jackpot records. It was an exhausting experience for 8 bucks I probably brought in 60 or so albums and he only wanted about four of them which fine but as I'm unloading the car bringing new ones in the clerk had two piles that were his reject pile yet again fine but do you think he had the common decency to tell me so I could carry them back out as I went! NO. he waits until I've brought them all in and then says "well I can really only take these." Also on their website it says they'll help you unloading them but that's a lie. There were two people at the counter and neither one asked if they could help me load or unload. So why say it if you're not going to do it. It was a total waste of time. I will never be back or recommend my friends to sell...
Read moreI expect a record store to uphold a standard of quality and authenticity. But instead, I was sold two counterfeit Frank Ocean vinyls that were, at best, poorly made imitations with inferior sound quality.
I’m disgusted by the complete lack of integrity this store has shown. Selling bootlegs is not only unethical, it's also a violation of trust between a retailer and its customers. Music fans, especially those who collect vinyl, rely on stores to provide legitimate, high-quality records—not to be tricked into paying money for something that should never have been sold in the first place.
This kind of behavior is not just a minor mistake—it’s a blatant act of disrespect to customers and artists alike. I will never return to this store and strongly advise others to avoid it...
