Visiting town for a few days, and I had passed by Tov a few times, and had made a point to stop in before we left as it initially seemed like a chill place.
It wasn't until we took a photo outside of the double decker bus, not only as a reminder of it's location, but also as a memory of town, that we came into trouble. One of the staff literally came RUNNING out and chased us down the road to berate us for having the audacity to take a photo without buying anything.
Note: we did not go inside snapping photos like a bunch of no good tourists, but instead just took one photo a few feet away (on the public road).
The employee/owner caught us all off guard with his blatant rudeness, stating in the most condescending tone that "Ive spent a lot of money on this place, and it's not an art gallery"
Now I agree, if we were snooping around and being rude about using his shop for a photoshoot or whatnot, it would be polite to spend a couple bucks on coffee as repayment. But for one photo? To come running out just to enforce your weird sense of self righteousness is beyond unacceptable, and a surefire way to make sure that you lose any potential customers that come to your establishment for it's creative style. Being some odd enforcer of 'take a photo, pay me' is poor buisness and is no better than the losers who wear costumes outside casinos in Vegas, waiting for tourists to take a photo, with the intention of accosting them for payment.
Will change my plans of ever visiting due to the employee/manager being an absolute clown. He could make the best brew in the world for all I care, if you're willing to go out of your way to make random folks on the streets feel bad, you need to reassess...
Read moreBeautiful location. Fantastic coffee, the iced rose mocha was great! A little more than I'd normally pay ($10+ for a 16 ounce), but I specifically avoided a very close by Starbucks today because I wanted to shop local and really wanted some yummy caffeine!
The cashier was very kind, but the baristo made a rude remark when the cashier asked if I wanted regular milk or oat milk. I asked if there was a price difference and the sole baristo, I'm assuming the owner, said something quietly like, "Yeah, we're not a Starbucks."
For one, starbucks upcharges for alternate milk, but that's not really important. This comment from him was unnecessary and came off as rude and disparaging. I'm a first-time customer and didn't read the entire menu, and I didn't even bring up the initial question. As someone who's been working with the public my entire life as a customer, employee, and former small business owner, I never want to treat customers or workers the way I was treated today. I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day or if he normally treats others this way, as everyone has bad days, but the replies to his one-star reviews don't give me reassurance.
I'm not sure if the long wait with other people ordering after me and getting their items before me, was normal, but it felt like I might have targeted for just asking a question. However, I understand it is difficult being the sole employee
The coffee was great and the options are very unique, which I appreciate as a fellow coffee connoisseur. The customer service from the baristo was remarkably worse than any other coffee shop I've been to, and I've been to coffee shops over a thousand, if not...
Read moreI walked in just to try some 'Egyptian coffee' (according to the shop sign). But it appeared that no such thing exists here, and the name of the coffee only comes from the nationality of the owner. Same with 'Arabic' coffee, which tasted like milk with a lot of sugar and some spice, and the price was a bit of a rip-off. Not to say that I had to wait forever for my order. Not a friendly owner. The barista girl was friendlier though, one star for that. And one more star for Middle Eastern decor of the space. But I won't be coming back. UPD: Dear owner, you're burying yourself even deeper with such response, especially trying to play 'white' card. That girl was just friendly, smiling, and helpful, unlike you. Indeed, you, very irritated, offered to add some drip coffee to my Arabic latte (not breve!). It didn't improve the taste at all, but I decided to shut up and leave, not to make a scene. What exactly makes me such a 'terrible' customer? I was polite, left a tip, and was waiting patiently for my order. After about 10 min I asked the girl wouldn't it be better for me to take a walk and then return for my coffee. And when I came back, my coffee still wasn't ready! And when it finally was, I didn't like the taste but decided not to demand my money back. So, I'm a terrible customer just because I didn't like your product and told my opinion online?? Good luck with your business. With such attitude, you...
