Consistent quality, speed of preparation and ultra-friendly staff. This is a family-owned business worthy of your patronage. I grew up eating calzones in Los Angeles, and every time I go "home" I make sure and head to Ameci's (the local pizza shop near my childhood home) to get one. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, was able to match the flavor perfection that was their calzone, and as a professional chef, I've tried and failed to perfect it at home as well.
That is, until I tried the calzones at Stumptown. I was immediately transported straight back to my childhood, and I confess I've ordered WAY too many of them over the last month, but it was worth it.
Do me a favor, especially if you're over toward Gresham. Try these guys, and do it in person. You'll appreciate the staff and their level of care, and you'll save them the 30% fee that Grubhub charges them for the privilege of having it delivered to your home. Put plainly, I paid $14 (including tip) for a calzone today, versus nearly $40 for the same order at Grubhub, and MOST of that money went to Grubhub. We need to support local businesses, not just with our orders, but with our feet.
Here's hoping they expand into...
Read moreAttempted to order delivery through Ubereats. Unbeknownst to me at the time they run their own delivery service, perfect, whatever. I order food, wait 2 hours without receiving it so I cancel the order, contact Ubereats and attempt to reorder. Another several hours go by so I cancel the 2nd order. The next day my card has been charged for both orders, which have been marked as delivered. At this point most expensive pizza I've never eaten. I contact Ubereats for a refund and they tell me to contact the restaurant as they handle deliveries themselves First several times I attempt to get ahold of them I have no luck, next time I'm told it'll be looked into and I'll be contacted. Next time I call I request to talk to a supervisor and am told he's busy and can talk to me later. I call again and get told the same exact supervisor story. Apparently there are at least a couple employees with their heads...
Read moreThe pizza was just the way I like it, though it was not what some other family members liked. It's crispy, rather than chewy, but quality. Sauce didn't leave any residue nor was overpowering.
Fam really liked the breadsticks, cheese sticks, and the wings weren't clever, just exactly what I wanted in a wing. Our next venture with them will be subs, will let you know.
Revised: I hate leaving negative reviews, so will say this. I placed the order for pickup at a specific time, and it was clearly made early so everything was cold. I did order an extra sandwich, for myself, which was good because the two Italians I ordered were instead only one Italian. Wife let me have some of her Turkey sandwich, and it is quite good. I just wish the experience...
