Don't waste your time going to any other supermarkets if you are in need of Asian ingredients, this place will have what you're looking for and then some. When I decided to branch out and try making okinomiyaki they had pretty much everything, and I also found some items that weren't on my list. While small, they are well stocked in the freezer sections (and there is nowhere else I've seen locally that had Peking duck at one point or another), as well as black shrimp and other things that are not seen in mainstream shops nearby. Their produce is great too and you can find mountain yam, tarro, Thai basil, mint, etc. And the people who run it are awesome too! I never feel like an outsider when I go in and it never gets too claustrophobic in the store. During the pandemic they have been really good about keeping everyone safe. I can't sing its praises enough. While there are other markets in Boston and Portland, we are so fortunate to have Lo's nearby. It makes cooking any Asian meal (be it Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, etc) so much...
Read moreDecent southeast Asian market carrying very limited selections of Asian goods and food items esp. vegetables but no fruits. NH does NOT have much of an Asian population so it was surprising to find this store in the Portsmouth area. Only other Asian grocery store found is in downtown Manchester off the main street near city hall. It's good for the most basic Asian food items. The parking lot is very small as the store is located in a very small section of a small strip mall area. Prices are higher than what you'd find in most Asian markets but it's the ONLY Asian market here so it's reasonably expected for the higher food costs. No bathrooms available. Short hours and...
Read moreI love Lo's. It's the only Asian market for God knows how many miles. It's a small little shop but has a very big selection of imported goods from many places (Korean, China, Thailand, etc). I love the variety of seasonal things (Such as Moon Cakes during the moon festival). I buy my Kimchii from here and often times the frozen dumplings, frozen seafoods, and various other things. It would be amazing if they expanded in the future, but for now I am very satisfied with what they have.
The parking lot is terrible, but that isn't their fault. It's small and narrow for the amount of traffic they get between them and the Dunkin...
