I wish I had someone to tell me about the market for a Rolex, but maybe if I pass on what I have learned, it might help someone. I’m always searching for a bargain, and that habit did not serve me well at all. Fakes are rampant. Realreal and ebay have authenticators their Rolexes go through before you get one, but that has just upped the fakers’ game such that the best fakes are externally indistinguishable from a real one, and I doubt the authenticators take the hours to disassemble the watch during their inspection so you can never be 100% sure. You might get a used one less than list, but they hold their value so well it has to be old before it’s offered lower, and then you have to trust an inspection/refurbishment horologist that the watch doesn’t have big, expensive problems. I found that the best you can hope for is to go to an honest authorized dealer like Springers, order what you want and wait. You’ll pay list price when it comes in, and they say to expect a year wait, though that sounds like worst case, and may improve. It’s just as of this writing, February 2022. I even had another authorized dealer do a bait and switch on me. The one advertised wasn’t available, but they had another one at 10% over list. If you just have to have one now, grey marketers have them, but will charge 10-50% more than list. The Grey Marketers get their unworn stock from authorized dealers, which goes against the dealers’ authorization contract. Springers is on the lookout for flippers: buyers who only want to cash in on the shortage. For that reason Springers only takes orders in person. Fine with me. It’s a seller’s market. You have to prove yourself worthy of the watch, just that you simply want to own one I felt like I dodged several bullets and was fortunate to finally find good people to do business with. Yeah, I’m waiting. That’s OK. Update: Watch arrived 11 weeks after order. It's great. I did need extra links, which came in another week. As with the watch, the links took less time than their estimate. My choice of model/style is not the most sought-after, so YMMV...
Read moreIf there were a 6 "Star" option, I would gladly give that to Springer's in Portsmouth NH. These guys are the real deal. I live about 30 minutes south of Boston MA, and made the trip (1.5 hours) after hearing such positive reviews of Springer's. I am so happy that I did. My brothers were helping myself in the search for an engagement ring for my now current fiancé (she said yes) and we looked at a few jewelry shops previously but none of them even compared... I will explain why. I am younger, and unfortunately we still live in a day of age where personal looks are a judge of your character and integrity. I was almost treated as a peasant in other shops in the local area. Rude and snide remarks when I wanted to see certain diamonds and settings, tuning me out, and showing me jewelry that they thought would be good for my "price range" meanwhile, I never spoke of a figure. Being in sales, I know first hand that these actions are not only offensive but disrespectful.
When we walked into Springer's we were greeted by a gentleman named Evan. Evan asked what we were looking for, showed us to the engagement ring section and allowed us look on our own until we had any questions. I did a lot of homework prior, so I knew exactly what I was looking for. When I asked, and Evan pulled out every setting, diamond, and complete that I wanted to see. Not only did Evan answer every question I had, he also helped and guided me in the direction I needed to be. That is true customer service. The entire staff were beyond knowledgeable, friendly and it really seemed as if their job was their passion. I love that. That is why I chose Springer's. I ended up purchasing a gorgeous solitaire "HOF" engagement ring that she is absolutely obsessed with. I later returned with my fiancé to purchase our wedding bands, I will never go anywhere else for my jewelry needs. If you are in the market for any type of fine jewelry, please do yourself the favor and check out Springer's. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Evan and the...
Read moreAfter having such fantastic experiences at Springer's in Portsmouth, I recently returned to the store for another purchase, and this visit managed to be even better than the last.
This time, my wife and I had the pleasure of working with Sarah, who immediately impressed us with her personableness, warmth, and passion for the products we were interested in. I came in wanting to purchase a piece of jewelry for myself, and as a surprise, also wanted to purchase a watch for my wife that she had been desiring for years to mark our 8-year wedding anniversary. With Sarah’s help, we came up with an idea that turned this gift into a much more meaningful surprise for my wife.
With her guidance, I selected a beautiful Tudor watch, and Sarah helped me through the engraving process, assisting me in selecting the perfect design. I had it engraved with something special, my wife’s favorite animal, an elephant. Sarah was just as excited about the idea as I was and took great care in making sure every detail was perfect. She guided me through the entire process with such thoughtfulness and enthusiasm that it made the experience feel just as special as the gift itself.
When the day came for my wife and I to return to the store to pick up the piece of jewelry I had purchased for myself, Sarah and I had planned a surprise for my wife. We were taken into a side room where my wife was presented with her dream watch, as well as a beautiful bouquet of flowers. My wife was so surprised and excited that she literally went into tears.
Springer’s clearly has a remarkable team, and Sarah is a shining example. Thanks to her, this shopping experience not only matched my last, but it surpassed it. I’m thrilled with the purchase and even more thrilled with the special moment Sarah helped create.
Thank you, Sarah, for helping me create such a memorable anniversary surprise. I look forward to working...
