I went to SimonMed in Prescott for a Breast MRI. The facility is NOT set up the way it is for speciality breast imaging centers. The tech was abrupt and non-empathetic with her bedside manner. The contrast is injected manually vs. automatically/machine delivered as it is at breast imaging/womens centers. This manual injection interfered with the MRI results. In addition to this, the radiologist who did the report did NOT initially do a comparison study with my past MRIs. The radiologists misdiagnosed me with not having dense breast tissue when my imaging and surgeons for the past 20 years have diagnosed me as having dense tissue. They also said the MRI was impacted by the movement during contrast being manually injected. They later did the comparison and SUGGESTED I get a follow up ultrasound.
I went for my follow up ultrasound at the Prescott Valley office. The breast ultrasound tech tried to say that she couldn't do the ultrasound because I had symptoms that came up 2 months ago. I tried to explain that it was ordered by my surgeon and I had a faulty MRI the previous week and my experiences with imaging, and the fact that I'm high risk for breast cancer, however, the tech insisted that I needed to have a mammogram first or else it wouldn't be a complete study. I told her that I'll call my surgeon and the tech said that my surgeon can't do anything about it. The tech said they'd call their radiologist to check. The radiologist said I could have it and it'd be labeled as an incomplete study. I felt very uncomfortable from that point on with the tech trying to determine if I could have the ultrasound or not, especially after the reporting radiologist and my breast surgeon recommended it after the botched MRI just a week ago. I did not know that Techs could make decisions or recommendations on ordered imaging before getting guidance from doctors or radiologists. This was an awful experience. I do not recommend SimonMed for breast imaging in the Prescott and Prescott Valley offices.
The reason I gave 2 stars and not one is because the front desk staff was very kind and personable, as always. Also, I've had good experiences with SimonMed for other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will NOT be using Simon Med. You cannot call to make an appointment without waiting on hold for 20 minutes. You are instead directed to use a NOT USER FRIENDLY website to make an appointment, which will be weeks out. Cut to the Friday evening before my child's MRI and all of the doctor's offices are closed. This is when Sherry from the front office decided to let me know that she couldn't find the faxed order and would be cancelling my appointment. "Let me look in one other place," she said. Apparently she couldn't find it there either and blamed my doctor. (Why are there multiple places to be looking for these things?) Maybe if they had their act together, they could have warned me with more notice and I could've made sure the doctor faxed the order again. After all, they had 3 weeks to notice the missing paper work.
After trying to contact his doctor myself, I called back to the Simon Med office. I spoke with another lady who put me on hold for 45 minutes while she looked around. She told me that she put his appointment back on the books and for us to come in. She said not to worry about it. I explained that I had to drive 90 miles to get to this facility and did not want to be turned away. She assured me that it would be fine.
We get to the office where, upon checking in, Sherry smirks at me, shaking her head, and rudely says, "So, did you get the order?" After I explained what happened she told me that I was talking to the call center and they don't know what they are talking about. I got upset about the fact that they allowed me to make a 90 mile trip for nothing. "You can talk to the tech.," she tells me. She stood up and walk around a corner where I heard her laugh and say, "you're up." So... they had clearly planned out this confrontation with me., instead of being nice enough to call in the morning before I drove 90 miles.
Meanwhile..... I still have a child who cannot walk and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOnly 1 person working when I arrived at the Prescott Valley facility around 11:45 so it took awhile to get checked in plus there was a long line forming behind me. But she was helpful & friendly. She told me a 2 hr wait. So I went & did some errands & received a text that my appt was @ 1 pm so returned & checked in. Now there were 2 girls working & again long line after me & no seats left in waiting room. She informed me there were 2 people ahead of me & that 1 of them would probably take 45 min so , I waited in the car because I had my dog with me. I went back in @ 1:50 & waited for another 1hr to be called so by that time it had been 3 hrs total from the time I had checked in. That is pushing the boundaries of absurdity!!! Thereās a sign saying we apologize for the wait times for X-rays. Well, instead of apologizing, why donāt you fix it?? Youāre supposed to be one of the largest Imaging companies around so you tell me you canāt add another x-ray machine and technicians to handle the volume. Over the years I have had various imaging done @ the hospital. It was always easy to get an appointment and in and out fast. From now on, any doctor I see, , I will specifically say I will not go to SimonMed for x-rays. Since you take appointments for the other kinds of imaging I would consider that since I have done that before with you and Iāve been able to get in and out promptly. Just seems to me you have a big issue with your X-ray division. That was 3 hrs of my time I will never get back & it seems it has no value to your company & like most big companies, you only care about the bottom line and letās see if you will allow this to...
