Let me describe my experience with the most unprofessional employee I had ever encountered in my life at this LA fitness. First of all I went in there with a 3 day pass I received from a manager at a different facility. My friend has a membership there and she told me to go. In order to activate my pass I had to speak to a sales rep his name is Will, I explained to Will that I was waiting for my membership to expire at Xsport next month, like every salesman he insisted and insisted and I explained I only had about $40 to my name but that I could come tomorrow (friday) when I got payed and he said no just give me what you have, give me your credit card information and you can transfer me the rest when you get payed.. I agreed because I actually did want a membership. I stated that I had forgotten my wallet at home he said okay go get it and since my friend was expecting me I went to go look for her and tell her and she said well just come back tomorrow I'll get you in now as a guest so that's what she did. The girls in the front rang me up, I went to put my things in her locker and began to warm up. Will walked out to me and in a very agressive manner said YOU GOTTA LEAVE THE FACILITY RIGHT NOW and I was like what why?! He began to snap his fingers at me and speak to me in a very very rude manner I tried to explain that my friend got me in as a guest because my commute home was about 45 minutes and my friend told him that I was her guest and that I will be back tomorrow for the membership.. Will began to get extremely loud saying that I need to get out and my friend told him that she can bring whoever she wants that's why she's paying to bring guests! Will told her she can cancel her membership if he wants but that I had to leave or he was going to call the cops to escort me out?! Are you serious?!! I was being treated like a criminal, he embarrassed and humiliated me in front of the whole gym. I could not believe how disrespectful and unprofessional he was acting. The way he kicked me out was so messed up I could not believe his disgusting behavior. He was yelling so loud his face was getting red. This Will guy went about the situation the worst way possible!!!! I strongly believe he should lose his job for talking to a potential member and a person who already has a membership there the way he was!!! If he would have approached me in a respectful manner I would have totally understood and would have left with no problem. But the way he was talking to me and my friend made me extremely upset I could not believe how immature he was acting! Arguing like a little kid. I will contact the Better Business Bureau, I will speak to corporate, I am going to do make sure he does not get away with the way we were being treated so unfair and so disrespectful!!! Shame on this Will guy DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP WITH WILL!!! I have never had a problem with anyone there but this guy is disgusting!!! If you're planning on getting a membership feel free but this Will guy NO DO NOT MAKE HIM ANY COMMISSION OFF YOUR MEMBERSHIP STAY AWAY FROM WILL HE IS A BAD SALES MAN AND A BAD PERSON FOR THE TREATMENT HE PULLED TODAY!!! HE IS A WHITE SKINNY LOOKING MAN WITH GLASSES THAT LOOKS LIKE HE DOESN'T EVEN WORKOUT STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF ANYONE HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO WORK AT THIS GYM AND...
Read moreYou can tell the management of this location isn’t very good by just walking in. Equipment is always broken, bathrooms are filthy with feces and blood in the same stall for 3 days. I didn’t think they would clean it up so I checked and I was correct. They are open until 11pm during the week but if you try get in after 10:15 they lock the front doors so you have to use the handle to open the only door that’s not locked. I didn’t know this so I walked away a few times last week because no one was at the counter and no one was leaving. Finally a few days ago another person was walking out and told me to use the handle, he said they’re always locking the door early. If you arrive at 10:30 for a quick workout like I did today you’ll find the front doors completely locked. The female at the front desk was trying to wave me on like they are closed but the listed hours are 11pm so I waited for her to open the door. Once she did I was told they’re closed but she let me in because she knows she isn’t supposed to lock the doors unless they are truly closed. I told her I don’t think it’s the policy of LA Fitness to lock doors early but she assured me it is. This is clearly a decision by low level employees making rules that the general manager doesn’t have the back bone to correct. I told her I would surely be out before 11, she mumbled something to me, probably calling me names and I went to work out. I’ve been a member before this young lady was born, my entire family has a membership that I pay for. Corporate sets the hours not your night closer, I’ll be sure to call LA Fitness to have this corrected. I can understand employees don’t want to be at work long after closing but I’m not the problem. They should start with the 15 guys playing basketball that take 10 minutes to chase out of the court and another 10 to get out of the locker room. This location needs better management, employees don’t make the rules. Clean the place up and start with the bathrooms. Blood drops and feces is not acceptable and I’m sure some kind of health violation, fix machines and don’t lock your doors until the stated closing hours would be...
Read moreI've been at this location going on 4 yrs, since the Old Balley's closed. I am a low maintenance person, so I can't assess the PT's or the classes. I stick with the weights and free floor area, pool and hot tub 1/mo, no sauna. My biggest gripe is missing equipment hooks, grips, hand bars, and machine breaks, etc. It takes too long to fix or replace.
[SUGGESTION: plant rfi chips on lose-able equipment. But I suspect it's not the non-staff that's the problem. Once a hand bar is missing, the front desk should be able to check it out per the member card system, like at the library. That way equipment can still be used while items are being replaced. And add to the checkout system a support-hook belt to add weight for dips and chins; and also get some oversize bar grips.].
Seems to be a lot of turn over in staff for some reason, but I like the new additions. I've visited several other LA sites as well as other clubs and I like this one the best. I don't think I've had a problem with my billing, but I have friends who have complained about the unseen customer service piece. STAFF - JUST TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU'D WANT YOUR MOTHER TO BE TREATED... (assuming you like your mother). Pushy sales; having people wait in the front for long periods of time for an appointment is something I don't like, and I think this is a pattern for most of the clubs. More mature/older staff may be an answer, but getting them to work for that pay requires hiring retired people. THOUGHT ! ! ! ... they could woo baby-boomers. Boomers have the money and the need to get get fit for the upcoming extended retirements. Check with your current senior members who look fit and see if they'd want a part time job. Also try group PT classes. A lot of people need but can't afford 1 on 1 PT, but they could split the cost 3-4 ways, 25% of something is better than 100% of nothing. (Maybe it's being done already???)
Lost one star due to unseen customer service issues. And 1 star due to longterm equipment failure, (I happen to know how to improvise). But still, Broadview LA is the best club for a 50 mile radius,...
