We've been here several times after new owners took over. Food is way too expensive for a local North Riverside pub/restaurant. But food is good, service ok, (some servers better than others, we had a bad one not to long along ago.) No hosts ever at front to greet you. But we always see an older gentleman doing everything himself it seems. Running around with take out orders, seating tables, running food, etc. Are they just short staffed? Or don't want to pay for extra help. It's questionable. My main complaint is we had just gone to a family member's wake yesterday. My family wanted Italian and we were having people back at my mother's house. We called to place a large carryout order and no answer on a Friday at 5pm. Tried at 515, 530, 550pm and finally gave up after almost an hour! Order was too complex to do on Doordash or any food apps. So not even a host or employee to answer the phones on a Friday??! How many others did this happen to? Unacceptable. So now, by what we've seen in person, now this makes us believe they are too cheap to hire extra help. I know tons of people who need jobs. The job market is so awful and people are desperately trying to find work. So we simply don't understand. Not any worker there could answer phone? We we're so upset and had to order elsewhere after wasting an hour. They lost out on a $400 carryout order. Not to mention how many others who couldn't order as well. Lost a lot of money if you ask me. Not sure we'll be back or order carryout if they don't even have anyone to run it or help out. It's...
Read moreWe stumbled upon The Village Pub completely by chance while driving back from the hospital — and what an absolute gem of a find. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Christine, our waitress, who was incredibly friendly, upbeat, and fun. She made us feel like regulars even though it was our first time there. The entire family running the restaurant is just as warm and welcoming — it’s clear this place is run with heart and pride.
The food was also outstanding. Everything we ordered was delicious — the rolled eggplant was flavorful and comforting, the potato soup was rich and hearty, and the short rib ravioli was a flavor bomb in your mouth. The sea bass was exquisitely prepared, and every pasta dish was perfectly al dente — real, proper Italian cooking through and through.
This place doesn’t just serve food, it delivers an experience. Between the authentic Italian vibes, the amazing service, and the clearly passionate family behind it all, The Village Pub is a place we’ll be coming back to again and again. Can’t...
Read moreLet's talk about it, You walk in, and you're immediately submerged into the old Chicago. The atmosphere was a major jewel in itself. The bar stacked with regulars hanging out enjoying their daily dose and watching sports. Pinball machines, lights, games , laughter, aroma, and the sound of Christines welcoming voice and hometown accent is your first impression. We were seated immediately, greeted and waited on by Christine. Rachel our waiter was running back and forth from the bar to our table and did not skip a beat. She was attentive, and cheerful. I could tell she had a lot on her plate but never gave off the impression of rushing us to order, she even gave us some advice on her favorites and things we should try. The food was 10/10 Service was 10/10 and atmosphere was a 10/10. My first time of many, my wife and I will frequent this amazing Village pub, the next time we visit from California . Ps. Calamari is the best I've ever...
