Visited UNC Rex Women’s Center for notary work with adoption documents. Due to the sensitivity of visit, I did not photograph the family, the NICU or anything else. However; the staff I encountered were very polite and helpful. On Time Signing here for most of your notary needs in the greater RTP Unika B. & Co.

As a new father, I want to say that the experience at this location has been truly amazing. All of the nurses has been extremely amazing not only during the pre-pregnancy part but also the post pregnancy period. I want to give all the credit to the team that worked with us because I truly believe this people will leave negative reviews more than positive so it is imperative that this hospital gets the credit they deserve. Our labor and delivery nurse Michelle Spaugh has been amazing since stepping into the room, with the love, care and compassion she showed us has been out of this world. Then our daytime nurses, Chi Onokalah, Nicole Bruce and Alaina Heberling(special shoutout) you have all truly made my wife Nikki feel at ease with your care and professionalism and always ensured her needs were met. Also our daytime techs Courtney Frye, Briana Harris, Jasmine King, Diana Hughes and Leela Niroula(special shoutout) you have all handled our child and wife wife with such ease and care while getting vitals of them both. Then our night time nurses Abby Shook, Brittany Hubbard, Jada Jones and Brittney Rayner, we are so grateful to have you all during the night where as new parents it was the toughest, especially during the cluster feeding where we would panic and didn't know how to understand the cues. You have all provided exceptional service and care during the wee hours of the night and didn't hesitate to look after our daughter when we needed a bit of a mental break, you all loved and took care of her as your own. Also, our night techs Courtney Stephens and Karen Taylor that did the exact same thing, but also took extra steps to ensure my wife was taken care of post-birth as she was bedridden. Even down to the support and care we got from the security ladies AKA the Aunties Kess Schoonmaker and Michelle Bell, you both always checked up on my mental every time I had to leave to check on our dogs 3 times a day. You both always were so nice to talk to and I felt like you both were also apart of the experience just because I knew you both genuinely cared, conversing with you both was like talking to my actual aunts and I thank you for your care, protection and humor to keep me at ease during times I felt overwhelmed during the 6-7 days we was there.

This is an amazing hospital and such an amazing experience that deserves all the credit for their professionalism and care they have displayed. I am truly grateful for it all and I would recommend anybody to go to...

Speaking only of L&D and Recovery

I have delivered at Rex 3 times now.

This last time I had the most amazing team a mother could ask for. My OB, the anesthesiologist (Dr. Phillips), and the rest of the OR team who were all astounding!! So happy, cheerful, clear with directions, and dare I say fun?!? The OR room was pristine with cleanliness. Dr. Philips went above and beyond with making sure I was as comfortable as could be the entire surgery, even used a smaller needle to decrease my risk of a ‘wet tap’ (which I had on my prior c section). Dr. Mandel did an amazing job touching base and communicating with me throughout the procedure (like making sure we had the song we wanted on when she was about to deliver). It was an absolute DREAM TEAM!! In recovery- Alissa, Brittany, and Courtney were especially amazing nurses whom I could not appreciate having around enough. Never did I feel like a bother to them! Rex food is always delicious too!

My 2nd time I had a standard experience with the on call OB. Nothing crazy or above and beyond. The postpartum nurses were great and the Rex Midwife was extremely pleasant. The anesthesiologist did stick me 4 times when trying to do my spinal tap for surgery, so I did end up with a spinal headache which was debilitating for about 2 weeks unfortunately.

The 1st time I delivered at Rex a woman with a laptop on a cart came to our room on discharge day - while doctors were still present - and asked if I “would like to make a payment towards my hospital bill.” It completely tainted what was such a nice experience as she insisted I should “contribute any amount towards what they predicted would be my final bill.” Sadly, I am not the only mother who has experienced this and unfortunately know other parents who were bothered by this transactional, non empathetic experience.

So if you see someone with a roller cart and laptop come up to your room on your last day from finances TELL THEM NO THANKS!! Do not let it ruin what is supposed to be a happy, joyful, new beginning and adventure for you and your family. Would deduct 0.5 if I could for this alone.

Otherwise this would have been an...

The team at UNC Rex was amazing during my labor and delivery. The labor nurses were attentive and truly cared. The doctors (we saw Dr. Segal and Dr. Flyke) were attentive, respectful of my birth plan wishes, informative, and just all around supportive and made sure we had the tools and information needed to make the most informed decision.

After a hard and long unsuccessful labor, the recovery nurses from our unplanned c-section and the OR team were incredible. Communicative, supportive, and understanding. Despite the unexpected twists we had, we walked away feeling cared for and supported from all teams.

The post-partum nurses are so great. They listen well and are extremely helpful.

My one and only gripe is the birth certificate registration office. Their computers were down the day we were discharged. And now it’s been an extreme inconvenience for us to have to come back in and get the paperwork signed for our son’s birth certificate. They expected us to come in the day after we got home, which ended up not being possible. And now it’s been all back and forth to just simply come in and sign the paperwork. There has been no consideration towards someone who just had a newborn and surgery, especially since this inconvenience was caused due to their computer system being shut down.

With how considerate and supportive the rest of the hospital staff has been as a whole, it’s a completely opposite experience with that department. Very disappointed.

Wanted to update that after speaking with Debbie from the birth certificate office, things went much smoother. She was polite, courteous, and...
