Overall, its not the worst place to live. I'm a former Marine and lived in some of the most disgusting places so my standards are pretty low. I am going to address some of the issues of the place in as much a civilized manner possible. -Roaches and Bedbugs: A lot of reviews complain about roaches. These reviews maybe obsolete. Ye sure, there are some big roaches in and around the apartments, but i have not seen an infestation as such reviews would infer. The biggest problem about roaches is not fault of the owners, but the collective ignorance of the unhealthy habits of the tenants. To my knowledge, i haven't experienced or seen any bed bugs.
-Demographics: The Pointe at Midtown apartments in practically a small ghetto. Most of the tenants are Mexican, black, and white in that order. I have seen no Asians. I walk my dog a lot around the neighborhood and im just reporting on what i see. I may be wrong and all the tenants are white, but they just stay inside and do white people things (im white). This is something i wish i knew before i moved in. I have no resentment for other races. i served in the military leading and being lead by a collection of nationalities. My problem is the blatant resentment towards me from these groups. I like to be courteous and give a little "hi, hows it going." Or, "hello." Or, head nod. Black people usually respond with a greeting. and we both move on our way. white people are non-existent. But, i get the worst possible response from Mexicans. They either just stare at me or just ignore me outright as if i am in the wrong place. As if i wasn't born in the North Carolina. As if, i am not a legal resident of these United States of America. That there just scratches my bones. Maybe its a language barrier. I tried "Hola" a couple times but same response. Maybe, it's my dog. But, i have a very well mannered and well trained Belgian Malinois in which she only barks or growls when someone is coming up or down the stairs. Who knows really. Maybe i have something on my face.
Safety: I have not felt safe since the very first day i moved in. And, with that comes a chronological story. The very first day i moved in, as i was moving in, a Mexican with a gold tooth walks right into my apartment. Pulls out his wallet and asked in broken English, "do you have the stuff.'' From the look on my face he quickly realizes hes in the wrong place and glides out the door. From the very first moment my level of Maslows Hierarchy of needs was diminished to the second tier. Continuing linearly, on the second weekend, my car was broken into. They stole my GPS, 60 dollars i had in the glove compartment, and my newly acquired title to my car. Of course they weren't able to steal my car, but i did have to go through a lengthy bureaucratic process to get another title and void the stolen one. A month goes by and i get the strangest visitor. By this time, i have bought a handgun. At the door is a Mexican. I crack open the door with the handgun behind it. the guy says in the most broken English i ever heard. "you have women for sex?" Now, im not running a brothel in my apartment so i have no clue what the guy is talking about. I said, ''sorry bud, i think you have the wrong address.'' He swags off as if im wrong. 30 minutes later he comes back with a friend who can speak a little better English. He ask the same thing and i give the same response. Continuing from then to the present i get people at my door asking for someone who doesn't live here. I give the same response every single time. "sorry bro, wrong address.'' To my delight, after asking a neighbor, the previous tenants were evicted for using my apartment for a prostitution meeting place. That was fun dealing with. Since i dont know anyone in Raleigh, i just stopped answering the door. Interior: No power outlets in the bathrooms(nuff said). Exterior: Trash everywhere. I have seen many Mexicans just throw trash bags AT not IN the dumpsters. Possibly a culture difference. Im out of space for review. thats my story of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThese apartments could be nice if you like living in the ghetto. The entire property has garbage everywhere and the stairwells always smell bad. There are 4 visitor parking spots in the entire parking lot and God forbid you park in a regular spot you'll be towed. I made the mistake of parking in a regular spot and I thought for sure my car had been stolen. When I tried to contact the Kettler leasing company about 20 times, via phone and email, regarding the fact that they had no sign for towing, they refused to contact me back. These apartments are cheap for a reason. They are dirty, bug filled, loud music (you can hear everything and always people outside partying and being loud). If you have a maintenance request, it will never be fixed. If you have a concern, it will never be answered. You'll regret moving here. This place is disgusting and the management is horrible!
And reading David Long's review, I remember that I also heard about prostitution going on in one of the apartments. He is absolutely right on everything he said. Some of the Mexicans (the majority of residents here) are somewhat friendly, but when there are a group of Mexican men standing around, saying degrading stuff about me in Spanish as I walk by (thinking I don't understand because I'm white), it's very scary and unnerving. I don't live here but have been visiting my boyfriend, who can't wait to move out, and it's every bit as bad as everyone has reviewed it.
And anyone giving this place a five star rating is obviously not a resident here or they work for the company because this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the worst complex I have ever lived in. Maintenance seems nonexisted and office staff practically lives on lunch. The only familiar face there is...roaches that crawl through the vents that no one wants to seem to spray. But i guess rent is cheap, which I would rather pay more for a place that would actually treat me like a person. My experience here is nothing but a negative one. And looking at the other google reviews, it is sad to see that the office has to reply to all of those 1 star posts about the complex. Lies saying "just contact us" or "sorry for the incovenience". I wouldnt be surprised if I see a response from them under this post, but dont bother. You guys are some of the worst slum-lords that ever lived. Go to sleep tonight and think about your residents breathing in mold and mildew while they sleep. Or the apartment fire that occured in which other residents were not notified for their safety. There's so much more I can say about this place (all negative by the way), but I guess I'll just be singing an old tune. Believe me, this complex will be shut down soon.
Warm Regards
