I have to say this was the most pleasurable experience that I have had to buy anything and especially expensive. I met Adam who is the general manager for the the bike stores. He was so so helpful and knowledgeable. He allowed me to test drive some bikes there to help educate me. He was not pushy at all He helped to take the time to show me online all the details to compare different bike features compared to the bikes. Adam also got back to my emails and a few calls as I was looking to spend 11-12K on this bike purchase. He wanted to make sure I was comfortable and confident with my purchase. Never once did I feel pressured or rushed in my decision. He also explained how Martys takes care of the bike and you after the purchase. It was clear that this is a family-run business with employees who care about the reputation and doing the right thing. On my second visit to try and make a decision, Adam brought one of the bikes from a different store to this location so I could make a more educated decision side by side with the other bike. On that visit, I met Jesse the owner of the bike stores. I felt as if I knew Jesse forever as well like we had been best friends. I met his son Jonah who was a very nice young man. Jesse's son actually joined me for a ride after I bought my bike. I loved the family feel of there and everyone was so nice. Jesse was exceptional in helping me make the best final choice & best for me I had the pleasure of working with two top-notch professional personable people. I feel anyone who is shopping for a bike should make Martys your personal bike store. I ended up buying a Pivot Shuttle am. I am just as happy I got the bike as I am when I bought it from such amazing nice family people. I also feel like I met 2 new friends I could be best friends with forever. This bike store is now a home for me. I felt I took my time looking around as I was searching for an expensive E mountain bike.I started off at a bike store in Basking Ridge. They tried to pull a fast one on me by selling me a 2022 bike as it was 2023 when I went home to look up reviews on that bike. They also tried to say that I would have free lifetime tune-ups when buying the bike from them. Well, my search went on to visit the TREK store in Stirling. There were a bunch of younger kids in high school trying to sell me a bike and couldn't answer the real hard questions I had about the differences. I did test drive 2 bikes there. At the TREK store, I felt as if they were pushy to get me to buy a bike that day. They didn't want me to leave without making a purchase. They keep asking to give a better price or try to see what more they can do....
Read moreWent here in December to place an order for a new bike. I went in believing I needed a size small or extra-small frame, and did understand that bikes are hard to come by now. I placed an order for a bike that was due in at the end of March, and ended up with a medium at the salespersons recommendation. Beginning of April comes, my roommate (who ordered a different bike in a large frame) gets the call her bike is ready. I call for an update on mine and am told itâs been delayed and is now expected in May of 2022. When we pick up my roommates bike, I am told it should be in around Thanksgiving of this year. When they looked at the incoming inventory, they found a similar bike, one tier up (about $200 more) that was due in 100% guaranteed by mid-May, and since there was such a delay with the first one and this one was more, when I came back to pick up and pay for the bike, they would help out with the price a bit to get it closer to what I originally had expected to pay. Got a call a week ago that the bike was in (2 months late, but canât fault them for that issue, just lack of communication). Went to pick it up and found that the frame was very large, to the point I had difficulty getting my leg over the frame and when not on the seat had to stand on my tippy toes to reach the ground. I thought I would just need to get used to it so I went ahead with the purchase. When I mentioned that I was told there would be a discount on the bike, they said that wasnât possible and charged full price. I brought the bike home, and it was larger than my roommates size large frame. Thankfully I did get a refund when I returned it the next day, but really wish they had let me order the smaller size to begin with, and honored the original...
Read more2 stars is only because I've had 2 moments with a particular mechanic there, who was really helpful and kind. Everyone else I've dealt with has absolutely no customer service skills. Even then, I don't expect a local bike shop to have stellar cs skills-because they're bikers-, but I would expect them to at least attempt to help or explain the problem further and educate the customer. Every time I come out of this shop I'm left with doubts or lack of confidence that the issues were resolved. Regardless of how much you spend, you should be treated the same. Also, I consistently see different prices for the same product on the same day (website.)
After I brought the bike in to get it looked at, I consistently had my chain sucked to point where It ground away a decent amount of the frame. On top of that I absolutely loved having to readjust the gears so they could work when they were "serviced."
I also noticed my friend had to get his rear rim replaced. He paid a fairly decent amount (~100) and they were so kind enough to "upgrade" the rim he had to the next version. The only issue was it's a USED rim.
There's a sense of entitlement and pretentiousness to many of those people. If I could go back, I would have never stepped foot in that place. Huge reason why I will not purchase a damn thing from them in the future. Good thing is I'll save money anyways. This place is at least 10$ more expensive than most bike shops in this area.
The benefit to this trash experience is I've learned to do a lot of my own work on my own bike. I can even give myself a douchey look in the mirror at the end, so I can get the true...
