Main Street Square — Local services in Rapid City

If I could give 0 stars I would. My family had horrible experiences here. We’re all from out of town and wanted to check out the downtown area. My brother (who lives in the area) insisted this was a good parking garage so we trusted his judgement. On Sunday evening (October 6, 2024) my father’s minivan was vandalized while parked here. Someone keyed the entire hood of his vehicle and his driver’s side door. We were only parked for about 1.5 hrs when this happened. He has no political stickers or anything that would cause offense or otherwise make his vehicle a target.

Also, this parking garage has essentially ZERO lights inside of it, so if the sun goes down, it is pitch black inside this parking garage, making it rather dangerous for your average citizen trying to avoid getting mugged or worse.

Against our better judgement, we returned to this parking garage on Thursday, October 10th, 2024. I parked my Subaru Outback at 1:49pm. I paid for my parking space using the kiosk on the first floor and paid from 1:49pm-4:50pm. At 2:37pm, a parking enforcement officer wrote me a warning ticket for not paying!!! What kind of operation is this city trying to run here?

*I am updating my review because I was informed by someone who lives in this town that 2nd floor parking and up is for “leased” parking only. Well, I did not realize that and did not see any lit signs or markings on ANY of the parking spots that designated these spaces as special “leased” spaces. They are not numbered or say “reserved”. No, they are just blank. I guess paid parking for guests is on the first floor only. Too bad this parking garage does not do a better job of warning you of this or puts out some more...

Very nice downtown overall. I would definitely recommend prairies edge for some awesome Rapid City souvenirs and black hills Vinny for those who like their music. Only complaint was the second day of our visit to this area, there was what seemed to be an abundance of overbearing and aggressive panhandlers. It didn’t feel very safe with my family being and it cut our visit short after they kept yelling at us and one even exposed himself inappropriately. They have signs up throughout the are saying “don’t feel bad for not giving to panhandlers” which implies to me this is a regular occurrence. It would be nice if something more could be done about that because this was more than your average person holding a sign on the street corner. Other than that it’s a really nice...

They keep it very clean but obviously when their are a ton of people who are slobs it can be hard to keep up. Amazing events all summer from beer festivals to movies under the stars. Winter they make it a ice skating rink! We try to make it to all the movies during the summer. I recommend to...
