I normally have a pleasant experience at this store, there's a large selection and you find things you don't normally find at the local Walmart/shop-rite. The problem with this store isn't the variety or the prices/sales but the staff. They've introduced the new "do it yourself" scanners, which is great for just a few things. But when you have a cart full of groceries and a toddler with you...sometimes old fashioned is better. Now today I went in, shopped for about two hours with my soon to be three year old and 65 year old mother. I went to one of the TWO lines open with a cashier and was not greeted even with a smile. The teenage boy was extremely rude off the bat when I asked if he could look up my card. "I don't know how to do that! YOU have to type it in"...uh okay then. No problem. As I'm frantically putting items up on the belt, my mother is watching my daughter and keeping her occupied. The boy, David at register 5, is mindlessly ringing things up to the point now food is piling up at the end. At one point I was expecting him to kindly start to bag, as most cashiers do. But no, David is determined to create a food mountain at the expense of my stuff. My mother starts to bag and I'm just disgusted with this boys attitude. I not so politely ask him to slow down and give my mother a chance to catch up. He starts to bag and my mom insists it's fine but is it really? Is this how you treat a woman clearly your elder with a toddler no less? The exchange between David and I continued to be extremely unpleasant and I'm seriously disturbed at the fact that he would be hired to interact with young moms exhausted from long shopping trips, children in tow/elderly people/even just humans in general. If all the cashiers are like this kid, they need to do a major re-hiring process and/or close all lanes with actual people. I know it may sound crazy but when I spend over 300$ a shopping trip sometimes I would appreciate someone being a little helpful especially when theyre directly...
Read moreOnce upon a time, I was in Stop and Shop in Flemington New Jersey. To make a long story short I needed to speak with the store manager. I was notified by a very nice woman at self checkout. I believe her name was Michelle. She informed me that the store manager was in the back, behind the seafood counter. I took the short walk to seafood, where I found Dominic (Store manager). Dominic was on the phone and as I walked up I quietly asked if he was in charge and he pointed at his phone and gave me one of these✋. So, I waited politely for about 6 minutes or so while he paced back and fourth in seafood talking, in what seemed to be a not a work call, but a social call of sorts. So after waiting a bit, I said very politely “excuse me, Dominic, I'm just going to run to aisle 20 and whenever your done” and he cut me off and goes “NO, I don’t wait on you, YOU, wait on me. Can’t you see I’m on the phone” So I smiled, looked at him confused, and just said “Really?” Referring to the tone he was using with me. He goes “Yeah!” And continued with his conversation.
Personally, I wouldn’t have treated a customer like that but hey, maybe he was having a bad day so who knows.
I hope he has better days.
Oh, and Michelle should get a raise....

Couldn't find a block of Parmesan cheese - and no one could tell me where to find it . REALLY ??? - Clearly Parmesan has become some rare exotic cheese. Bought fresh parsley - while checking out found a dead caterpillar that fell out of said parsley. Manager came over - said "sorry" and nonchalantly wiped up dead caterpillar. Had to go get my own replacement parsley. Bought light cream for sauce recipe.... poured into pan and it ruined my sauce because cream was 1/2 frozen. Shame on me that I didn't check that the cream I bought an hour ago was frozen.
Left store and walked past the "Manager" who was standing bullshitting with other store employees. Great customer service . She had NO interest in me - had NO clue that I was the person that had just complained about a F'in caterpillar in my parsley.
I also bought eggs on this trip - haven't used them yet but can't wait to see what that adventure will be -maybe half developed...
