Positives
Today, I bought a player's card for my daughter for $40. There were MANY games to choose from, and we enjoyed most of them. About 50% of the games were Chucky Cheese-like, and 50% were shooter/racing games for older kids. Some exceptions exist, but this is the majority. You earn "tickets" on your account as you play different machines which I assume lead to prizes. The difference between scanning a card and inserting quarters into the machine is one that I love and hate. It's super convenient and sterile. Our $40 entertainment lasted approximately 45 minutes without any fault of the business. The credits could have easily been spread out. However, my daughter is 4, i.e., she has a short attention span.
The technology and sound advancements in the Halo game were incredible.
Some of the games weren't working, which is understandable. However, I never saw any employees on the floor. I assume if we go back, there is a place to spend the electronic "tickets."
Negatives
If they did not intend to carry over some of the original Gold Mine's attributes, why did they name the business after it? It lacks a vibe, and the decor is bland. My earliest memories of the Gold Mine are of pumping quarters into machines, and sometimes there was a line because there were so many people. Like a "teenager's speakeasy," it was dark, seedy, and cool. Is there a reason why the current owner of the business did not capitalize on nostalgia associated with the 90s...
Read moreThis place is terrible. You have to use cash to buy a card to play, the card has points on it and each game cost an uneven amount of points to play so you never get to use all the points in your card. The games are crazy expensive to play also. You will always have some left which aren’t enough to play unless you load more cash onto it. We blew $50 in a matter of minuets.
Most of the games give tickets which are also loaded on the card and they have this prize vending machine you use to pick prizes out of. So you spent tons of money for a few dollars worth of garbage.
Save your cash, if you want this kind of experience go to Chuck E. Cheese down the street, where each game only cost 1 token to play. You’re money will go a lot further and your child will have more fun.
No one is on site if you have issues to fix a machine and from what I gathered this has no association or anything to do with the old gold mine that used be in the mall. This place simply stole the name and is trying to...
Read moreAwful. my dad took me here to see what the new arcade in the mall was about. this place is very very scammy. spent 10$ on a driving game and a candy claw machine that only got me a tiny Halloween sized thing of m&ms with an uneven amount of credits I couldn't use. each game costs around 2-3$ to play (PER CREDIT, each game cost around 2-3 credits) from what i remember.
No coins either which was a huge let down, you load all of your money on a card that you scan onto the games. some of the machines were out of order as well.
loading money onto the cards was also weird, because they didn't give you a straight forward amount on the screen and you had to visually search for how much credits you get on the card to play with for the amount of...
