We went to JcPenny’s during their Labor Day sale in Redding to get a mattress set. We told the sales person Debra that my daughter was upgrading from a full to a queen and would need a mattress and box spring. Once we settled on a set we asked for a quote. She told us around $800.00. We proceeded with the sale because it was in my daughters budget to pay around $900.00. The mattress was delivered but not the box spring. My daughter called the store about the box spring and they told her it was shipping separately. She got her first credit card statement and the items listed that were charged did not include a box spring. She called the customer service line and was told she didn’t order a box spring and was then disconnected. We went down to the store and saw Debra and told her the problem. She said she didn’t remember the conversation regarding the sale and there was nothing she could do but sale us a box spring. We then called the number she provided. And was told if we want to return it we will be charged a 20% restocking fee and another fee of $80.00 ( I couldn’t here what the fee was for). They had no desire to help us in anyway. DO NOT EVER BY FURNITURE OR MATTRESS FROM JCPENNY, and if Debra is your sales person, makes sure she really understands what you want and orders it correctly. There is no going back once...

Reason for 2 stars: I just wish the sales people were more helpful. They seem to just be there, do not know things and are never willing to help has been my experience every visit. I asked a girl who was folding and straightening thr womens section where shorts were like the pair I had on. They are like a JC Penny staple. She didn't even look up from folding a shirt, just said I don't know. I went to pick up an item I ordered online and asked a person wearing a badge, they pointed and said "back there" and went back to conversation with other employee. I ended up walking around for another 10-15 min "back there" looking for some area that might be pick up. I finally saw another employee that appeared at a register and was told "you get it here".    Read moreIt's a Sunday around 5pm. I'm in the store attempting to purchase a few hundred dollars worth of merchandise.why only attempting? Because there are no cashiers! Myself and at least 4 other parties of people are walking around the store from register to register with no members of the staff anyplace to be found! When one of us located a employee we get her to open a register... Now the line is 12+ people long ..the poor girl is paging for help but no one comes. The machine runs out of tape and no one on the floor can fix it. No management is present and she has to try to make it work while the line is backing up down the center of the store. It took 38 minutes to check out! It's no wonder department stores like this are going out of business as such alarming rates.
