I think this course is not capitalizing on the potential of what it could have been, and its target audience is confusing.
Regarding the course itself, I found the holes to be bland, hard to physically navigate, and repetitive with no obstacles, perhaps due to the lack of space. There seemed to be about 3 to 5 feet of sidewalk between holes, which, on a busy day, results in multiple or large groups trying to squish together off the green. Almost all holes were a par 2 or par 3. Somewhat annoyingly (presumably as a cost-saving measure), the pars are not pre-written in the scorecard.
The atmosphere was lacking. There are a handful of animatronic dinosaurs, at least one of which may be frightening to young children (mine were). The course is built in and around an old bank. You can still see the old bank vault which now contains a statue dinosaur, but you cannot go inside, and the reflective plexiglass makes it hard to see inside the dim room. You'd think they would put a hole in there!
During my visit at 2PM, very explicit music was being played throughout the course; something you would expect during night hours. It was a sunny day, and 15 of the 18 holes are located outdoors. There is very little shade and no places to sit between holes. There is seating inside the building, along with a few arcade machines and restrooms. I wish some of this space was used for another hole (or two) indoors.
Some potential upsides are the last hole is a "skeeball" hole, which results in a free game of golf if you get your ball in the smallest middle hole. It's location may be ideal for some, being one of the furthest north courses along route 1.
Overall, I'm not sure who I would recommend to visit this course. The music and violent/loud animatronics discourage me from recommending this course for young families, but at the same time, the lack of obstacles, visuals, and diversity discourage me from recommending this course for adults. Visitors who may need to sit between holes may have difficulty during their visit. If you are going to visit, I would recommend doing so on a cool shady day for the best weather and for the best view into the old vault, which frankly is one of the more interesting things on...
Read moreGreat dinosaur themed mini golf course where there isn't a lot of competition in Rehoboth Beach. It's very popular, so be prepared to wait for the slow-playing groups that take forever to move through the course. We arrived at 11:20am on a sunny weekday and it took 20-min in line to get started, plus another 75-min to play through the 18-holes. At least there are plentiful dinosaurs to keep you entertained while waiting between holes. Our 3-yr old was free, but he was too scared to play a couple of the holes with scarier dinosaurs. The course itself was in excellent shape, and has enough variations and features to challenge experts while still accommodating novices. All of the dinosaurs looked great except for one that already showed some wear...hopefully patrons obey the "don't touch the dinosaurs" rule or else they're not going to stay nice-looking for very long. It's really cool that this course was built out of an old bank, and even used the vault for a dinosaur display near the end. Hopefully more fun courses like this get built in Rehoboth in the future. Until then, Nick's Jurassic course is the best...
Read moreBetter for extremely casual easy mini-golfing. The course design was extremely lacking, nothing but rocks and hills as obstacles, nothing Dino themed on the actual course itself. The Dino’s were impressive and large and there was quite a few of them, but they were mostly decoration around the holes. Except for one that roared in your face as putting, extremely annoying. Awkward person taking photos at the beginning then selling the photo at the end for an expensive amount, for how expensive the course was you’d think they’d at least throw a digital copy in for free at ~60 bucks for four people
Overall C+: Clean Awful course design Good Dino decoration and figures Nice staff - awkward photo...
