Man oh man where do I begin... Upon arrival we were seated in a spot I thought to be appropriate considering we brought my 15m old with us. The server came to us and we ordered our sodas, I had sierra most and I think she got sweet tea of some sort, "which later on when she got a refill she said it watered down " I don't know if it's Rehoboth 's water but my sierra mist had a chemical after taste to it. Still drank it though. When we ordered she got French toast and I ended up getting some chicken over pasta with what they call hot and spicy red sauce. With that I got soup and she got hash brown. The soup was actually very delicious so I thought maybe this place would pull through. Our dishes came out and when I looked at my plate I knew it wasn't going to be pleasant by presentation...
The noodle : was the only thing on this dish that tasted correct. The chicken: the meat was rubbery, and was almost... Processed like. It wasn't a single piece of breast meat either, it was multiple smaller pieces... The mushrooms : canned The bell peppers : were actually pretty good The sauce: TERRIBLE. almost like that off brand that tries to be chef boyarde, super bland no flavor and what's worse: it wasn't hot and spicy- at all- no heat what so ever, I had to ask for tobacco . picture a can of tomatoes. Remove tomatoes and drain juice into dish. Add corn starch to thicken. That was my sauce. The half slices of cherry tomatoes : since it was mainly bland, the acidity from the tomatoes clashed with the dish.
I ate part of one piece of chicken and then focused on the noodles. I never in my life have left a plate that much Un eaten.
MY SON got turkey and gravy with both mashed potatoes and French fries. I had to try what he was eating The turkey : it was actually pretty good. Not to dry. Tasted like it was cut off of a Thanksgiving turkey. The fries : I didn't try them but my girlfriend said they were also good - kind of typical of you ask me. The potatoes : honestly... It tasted like they ordered KFC potatoes in terms of flavor, but not as soft as Id like mashed potatoes to be. Gravy : this stuff seemed to suffer what my sauce suffered. Had very decent flavor, sadly it was very oozey like, again, as of corn starch was added to give it thickness.
I read these reviews as I was powering through my meal. And as I read it became clear as I begun to observe my surroundings. The floor was dirty, our table had a Cigarette butt under it. And the owner. Your typical fat $h!t lazy management that seems to over work his staff. He just sat there in his booth at the end closest to the kitchen door and register. Didn't ask any of his customers how things are. It's almost as if he knows it's bad and can't have the piper. I got that vibe off of my server that she was not happy to work there and put on a smile to cover how she really felt, and that her tips and paycheck are what fueled her to work on a Sunday of memorial day weekend. Bless her soul for the effort but they really need more staff. As for the kitchen crew, I wish kitchen nightmares still existed and Gordon Ramsay could assess what's going on back there because I'm pretty sure the food is canned, over frozen, and nuked. The owner doesn't deserve that business. I feel like they stole the $50 we paid for that sad excuse for a meal.
A TRUE Diner experience is either the Stargate in Seaford Delaware, coming in second which is pretty much over part with quality and overall great experience. And finally the HARVEST Diner in Georgetown, with amazing staff, and a wonderful busser who is deaf but extremely friendly. I have never gotten terrible bland food at either of those establishments.
Rehoboth diner however....
Read moreWe've come back to Rehoboth for a few days after a long time of being away. We love this area and yes, there are a lot of food options. But we have thoroughly enjoyed three meals from the Rehoboth diner in the last few days.
First we stopped in quickly for a midday snack before heading out for a trail walk. I ordered a BLT and that sandwich was made to perfection. They even remembered my swiss cheese request which almost no one ever does. The sandwich had a hearty helping of all ingredients, and the lettuce was very green, the bacon was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crisp, and the tomato was fresh and in season. They toasted the bread perfectly and I opted for a salad instead of french fries with the sandwich.
My husband, who rarely eats breakfast or lunch, ordered the fruit bowl and even though he is very picky, he enjoyed it a lot. The service was so good and attentive that we opted to pop back later for another BLT (who doesn't love a delicious BLT??) for my dinner and my husband got the garden salad to accompany a sandwich that he had gotten the day before somewhere else. Everything was delicious.
The following night we ordered take out again. This time we got the salmon dinner with broccoli and a salad and the prime rib with baked potato and a salad, plus a side order of onion rings. Everything was excellent, and again, we are both pretty picky.
The salmon was perfectly cooked and the prime rib was excellent with the right amount of fat for a delicious beef cut IYKYK. The baked potato was so perfectly cooked, as to not have any harder parts, but all of it was tender and delicious. There was so much food that I'm going to have to have it again for a second night.
Take out is prepared very quickly and the service is really terrific and attentive. The first night we ordered we forgot our carrot cake and they called us lamenting that we didn't have our cake. We picked it up the next night and it was fresh and delicious.
Although diner food might not be someone's first choice, you should know what a hidden gem there is in the Rehoboth diner. Food quality and taste, kind and attentive service, and expediency are all rare when packaged together these days. We also found this to be extremely affordable.
We highly recommend the Rehoboth diner and are grateful that they were just down the road in a sea of many other options. We will be back and can't wait to try...
Read moreThis restaurant should be closed down . I'm allergic to seafood and made that very aware before ordering any food. Once the information they got the information about my allergies they assured me that they would follow all the protocol and everything would be fine. They brought me a plate of food that was contaminated with seafood and had forgotten about my Seafood allergies from the time they took my order to the time they brought me my food. I told the same wait staff that took my order that this was contaminated and take it back. She apologized over and over and said she would fix it. I waited an additional 25 minutes for a hamburger . Then when they brought it I was scared to eat it but the wait staff assured me over and over that it was safe to eat I told her that I was concerned for my safety and she said I had nothing to worry about. I ate only a few bites of the hamburger and was still feeling worried for my safty so i told her i didnt want it anymore . The wait staff offered to pay for my meal and I told her no ill pay for my won food even though I didn't think it's fair I should pay for food that was incorrectly prepared and then nearly ends up killing me. I start having a reaction so I went straight to the emergency room and had to be hooked up to IVs to stop the allergic reaction from their food. Anaphylaxis shocks not something to play with and this restaurant the wait staff and management epically failed. The board of health should shut them down . I don't believe any of the kitchen cooks are certified in food safety or handling. This is a lawsuit and I hope they get closed for good. *do not eat at this restaurant * I do not recommend this...
