I had the absolute worst experience at the UTD Testing Center and would not recommend it to anyone. In fact, if I could give it negative stars, I would.
First of all, it's ridiculous that the UTD Testing Center doesn't accept a Texas driver's license as a valid form of identification. Especially considering the fact that you are required to present a government-issued photo ID to obtain a comet card in the first place. Despite having gone through the process of getting a comet card, I was still denied entry and missed my online class exam simply because I didn't have it on me. Why should I have to carry around multiple forms of identification just to take a test? It's absurd and incredibly frustrating.
Secondly, their rules around water are completely ridiculous. They don't let you bring a sealed water bottle, and if you want to drink water, you have to spend 5+ minutes raising your hand just to sign out to drink water while a worker stares at you. This is such a waste of time and makes the testing experience even more stressful than it already is.
But what really takes the cake is how little they care about legally required exam accommodations. If you have extra time on your exam, but they close in 15 minutes, they'll kick you out regardless of whether you've finished or not. And if you require reduced distraction learning, they'll hand you earplugs and a paper divider, which are completely useless in a room full of 300 other students. It's almost like they don't care about actually helping students succeed.
And don't even get me started on their hoodie policy. It doesn't matter if it's below freezing outside or in the testing room, they won't let you wear one because they think you'll cheat with it. It's not like you have dozens of workers walking around looking over your shoulder and proctors watching your every mouse click. Give me a break. These policies are just another example of how the UTD Testing Center cares more about enforcing arbitrary rules than creating a comfortable and conducive testing environment for students.
Finally, just take a look at all the other negative reviews. The UTD Testing Center is a prison, and it's only gotten worse over the years. I've been at UTD for my undergraduate and graduate degrees over the past 5+ years, and nothing has changed. If you want to avoid a headache and actually be able to take your exams without unnecessary stress, avoid the UTD Testing Center...
Read moreAs someone who has taken exams at the testing center for 4 years, I must say that the experience is quite unpleasant. It's as if they care more about fitting in as many people as possible rather than creating a comfortable environment for test-takers. It's frustrating to have to constantly move my chair every time someone needs to pass through the row, which is a frequent occurrence due to the narrow spacing between test-takers. I felt like I was packed in like a sardine, and it was incredibly distracting to have my elbows constantly bumping into the person next to me. If the testing center wants to provide a positive testing experience for students, they should seriously consider rearranging the seating to allow for more...
Read moreFor every questions you have the answer is no! students should be able to use whatever time they have before the testing center closing time. I was 12min late for an hour and 30min exam and I got denied a seat saying I had to use all my time. This is ridiculous as long as I'm there I should be allowed to take the exam even if I had 10 minutes left. students should be able to reserve a sit even on the exam day, some students have full-time jobs, and parenting responsibilities as well so sometimes it's hard to plan ahead please please update your clumsy website, I'd have given you zero star if it was possible, but then you have this much 1 star ratings and you couldn't careless so whats...
