I do not recommend this place. I went to the Richmond location on Wednesday to get my hair done before I am out to bed. I am 9 months pregnant and was in need to fix my hair. I didn’t want long braids that would take a long time because of the pain that I would experience for sitting in a chair for so long. So I decided to do a short bob. I wanted it to be knotless. When I showed the braiders the style, they insisted that the bob will only look good if it is box braids and not knotless because knotless will look too thin because the style is short. They suggested that I either do box braids or curl the ends. I declined to curl the ends because I was fearful that it would make me look like an older lady when I’m only 35. I insisted that they just do the knotless braids shoulder length and we agreed that they would dip it. When they finished, the hair was thin but I was fine with it because I could still wear it in a ponytail or bun style.
The very next day, one of the braids came out and others started to unravel. I then called who I thought would be the owner to tell them and they told me to come the next day at 2;30 for the braiders to fix it. Keep in mind, i am busy and have a lot to do to prepare for this baby that will come in a couple of days. The owner then text me and said that the braiders told me that the hair would unravel but I didn’t listen. THAT WAS A LiE! N the braiders never told me that my hair would unravel. All they kept talking about was that the hair would appear thin because it was knotless. So when I got to the shop, the braiders immediately said that they could not fix my hair and there was nothing for them to do. How is that possible? So they wouldn’t even fix the braid that has come completely out or even try to secure the ones that unraveled. They never tied the ends or went one by one on each braid to secure it. The braider took a bundle of braids in her hand and ligjtly burned the hair. That is not how you secure the ends of the hair.
The owner ignored my calls and text. When I called, the owner called me back and immediately hung up after 1 ring when they realized it was me calling. The only time I had communication with the owner was when I was told that the braider said, “ there is nothing they can do about my hair. Either carry it or take it down”. What type of establishment are they running. I paid over $200 for shoulder length medium size knotless braids that started to come out just one day after installation and the owner is telling me to take my hair down and is ignoring the customers concern.
After waiting for 2 hours, with groceries in my car because I was told to come immediately to the shop, the stylist said that they didn’t have time to fix it. After yelling and going back and forth with the stylist, they actually sat down and burned the ends of the hair to secure it in place. This is what I originally asked for them to do.
It should not have taken a yelling match and threats for them to do the right thing.
I will not return and will no longer refer people to this shop.
For the owner, you need to do right by your customers and not be greedy and heartless. You will not prosper when u treat ppl this...
Read moreThe people were nice that booked my appt, but the work was not what I expected. There was a braided who started my hair and I liked her, but almost am hour after my hair had been started, some woman walked in and demanded that the one braiding my hair did her hair. My braided switched heads which really did upset me. They apologized for the inconvenience, but I felt that the other woman should have waited if that was the case. The person who began doing my hair was rough and she braided sooo tight. I'm not new to having braids, all I have is braids, but I'm natural and would like to keep my edges and the nice hair I've grown for 2 years. I informed the new braided not so tight, but she still did it her way. I was literally cringing because it hurt. It was my birthday so I had to get something done to my head. Afterwards, the braids were unraveling and the length was wayyy you uneven. I didn't even notice any of this until a few hours after. She used different color hair, which I didn't ask to have it that way, but decided to keep my mouth shut so that I can leave and make my dinner. The braiding was bulky and you can tell where she rushed. I had to braid some on my own after they unraveled. They were large instead of the medium that I paid for. There was hair sticking out and usually the person who braids my hair (doesn't work for this shop) cut around the braid to prevent this. You can tell where one color began and the other ended because of the bulkiness. This was my 1st time here and most likely my last time. I spent 150 and it only lasted me a few days before it looked really really old and rushed. I'll stick with my house braided who is really neat and charges more than this. Cheap isn't always better. Agsin, they are nice women, but the quality is not up to par. Will not...
Read moreListen the 3.7 rating stands for stay away!!! You can look at my reviews, I give honest reviews. Now let’s get into this and I will share every detail. I contacted Kady African Braiding at 10:52am on 12/16/2022 no one answered. I left a message and also sent a text message. I was at work when they attempted to call back, but communicated back and forth through text messaging and confirmed my appointment at 1:29pm for a takedown which was set for 6:00pm. I arrived at 5:36pm attempted to open the door and it was locked. I called the person I scheduled with at 5:37pm she answered and I explained the door is locked she said she’s going to call the braider. She texted me back at 5:55pm and said “Hello please getting back to you shortly” (her exact message). I replied “Okay” at 6:00. At 6:03 she calls me saying the braider is almost home and if I can reschedule for another day with a discount, she also said the braider left because people were canceling and she thought I wasn’t coming. How can you think I wasn’t coming when you didn’t call me before your employee left or the employee didn’t contact me? Makes no sense whatsoever. Now, tell me I wasted almost 30 minutes of my evening when I could have found business elsewhere. This was a huge inconvenience. The fact that I received an email confirming my appointment meant that your employee should have been at work whether I cancel or not. This is not how you run a business. Why is your employee not at work at 5:30? That makes absolutely no sense. If you want to do business with an unreliable company that’s you, but me personally will never contact them or do business. I guess my money or my will for wanting to do business with them...
