bb.q Chicken - Carytown's Crispy Korean Delight! 🍗✨

This is the real Korean chicken I've been looking for. For 3 years living in Richmond, I had to go to Washington D.C. to eat Korean chicken. Or I had to try the Asian Zing of Buffalo Wild Wings that were at least similar (but a little lacking). But now I don't have to. This is one of the most popular brands in Korea. They have brought the taste of Korea to America properly. What I'm most grateful for is that they make everything from spicy to sweet. They make 'secret source' (yangnyeom chicken flavor) and 'spicy galbi' (weak Korean-Style Fire Chicken (Buldak) flavor), which is my favorite flavor, and they also make 'mala', which is a Chinese flavor. My 8 year old cousin who went with me really enjoyed 'honey garlic' flavor that is not spicy. Also, my American friends who visited with me surprisingly enjoyed the spicy tastes. However, 'wings of fire' and 'tteokbokki' are only recommended for those who are familiar with Buldak. Of course they are delicious. This store has over 20 different beers and delicious chickens. I hope you enjoy here with your friends and family.

I got the spicy chicken wings and Rose ttetboki, both were very good quality. The wings were fresh and had a perfect crunchy exterior. A nice size too, not just the small frozen packaged wings that other places pass off as korean chicken wings. The 2 star spice is more mellow than you'd expect but there were spicier options available as well. The portions were very nice and two dishes were enough to share between two people for a light dinner. The menu is pretty much only wings and ttetboki with side dishes to order, but they do their main staples very well. They also have a large bar with beer on tap. It definitely has a bar snack type of vibe. The one down side is that their parking lot isn't free, you have to pay on an app. But it's carytown so just street park anywhere up and down the block for free.

This was our first time here. Because this is a Korean fried chicken restaurant I'll be making comparisons to Bonchon.

Pros: They have their own parking right in front of the restaurant. That's very hard to come by in Carytown. Service was good. Our waitress found us a table quickly and was very nice. We ordered boneless and wings. Boneless is a mix of boneless dark and white meat. The wings were a combination of wings and drumettes. We picked honey garlic for boneless and soy garlic for wings. They were both good; very crunchy and cooked well. None of the pieces were dry or overcooked.

Cons: You can only choose one flavor per order. You cannot mix and match flavors. So if you order a large and you picked a sauce that you don't like then too bad. Bonchon allows you to do half and half (granted they only have 2 flavors). It doesn't seem like a lot of extra work to do and customers would like the option. The pickled radish is not free like at Bonchon. Come on guys; its traditon to give Korean sides for free and enjoyed with every meal. Even though the flavors we picked isn't supposed to be spicy, they did have some minor heat. The kids didn't like that at all so they didn't eat as much as they can. I'm not sure if it's coming from the garlic or some other spices in it. The chicken itself is bland. I think it would taste better if they were marinated or seasoned beforehand. The sauce is what gives it flavor but you can tell when there isn't enough sauce there's no taste to the chicken.

Would I come back? Yes, I probably would. Since Bonchon has one location left in RVA, options are pretty limited if you're in the mood for Korean fried chicken. Our family of 5 spent...

The chicken was good and we were happy to have BB.Q in Richmond again. However, the time it takes the food to come out takes forever despite having not much people. I know they are made to order once it is received (which is one of the trademark of this franchise), but this place just takes too long. I’ve been to other bb.q chicken franchises and other Korean fried chicken places that are also made to order but they do not take this long. Also, I wish the fries would come out around the same time as the chicken. Not after we’re already halfway done with the food. (TBH, the fries could’ve tasted nicer but it wasn’t piping hot, just warm.) We ordered the total of 3 different flavors but they all came out in different timings which were way too far apart from each other. The temperature of the chicken pieces were off too. Some were piping hot (which was really good) but some of the pieces were lukewarm. Our table wasn’t the only table with that issue though. Other tables that were around us received their fries much after they received their chicken.

As a huge fan of BB.Q chicken, it is unfortunate this place doesn’t reflect the usual quality and service BB.Q offers. Hope they will make the effort to fix these issues so more customers will come and BB.Q will continue to be...

I gotta say this place it’s a Joke. I been on BBQ chicken in South Korea and this is no where near. First of the cleanliness of the dinning area is minimal and very aweful for a franchised that just opened this year in VA. You could see the trash/crumbs on the corners and feel the sticky tables so I decided to order my food to go. Then the customer service was pretty bad and no profesionalism at all. I ordered 40 wings and when asked for sauce was given 2 little cup. So I told the cashier that I needed more than 2 small cups for 40 wings and was told that they are not free if I wanted more I need to be charge because it’s policy And technically he wasn't even supposed to give me the 2 small cups. So I tried to get deeper understanding of their “policy” so I asked how many wings per cup of sauce and was told that none every sauce must be charged. I asked for someone in charge more people came out of the kitchen but No one wanted to talk. Ultimately the cashier told me that the person in charge was going to be back in a week so if I wanted to talk to him to come next week but he was not going to give me more sauce since he was going to get in trouble with his boss. Over $75 spent and they can not provide one single cup of sauce for...
