About 15 years ago, I worked with Karen to design a commemorative wedding set for my wife. She quickly drew up a nice set. Every year or so I would go in to the shop and pick up something nice for my wife, but I could never convince myself to pull the trigger and make it happen. I think that part of the problem was every time I went in I found something very nice from the estate section of the store. Over the years I have found some beautiful pieces and consequently didn't make the ring happen. A couple of weeks before Christmas 2020, I went in and talked to Karen, I explained what I was looking for in terms of a the ring that I wanted and I had some very specific requirements. Karen patiently and enthusiastically helped me with the plan. I ultimately decided to purchase a ring and have the set designed around the ring. I came back in the shop a couple of days later and Karen called from across the show room floor that she had something for me. They had picked up the perfect diamond for the ring that we were designing and she wanted to make sure I has a chance to see it. It was indeed perfect. Rather than trying to rush the design, I took the unset diamond, the ring with a zirconia place holder and the anniversary ring home to put under the tree. My wife was very excited when she opened the boxes. After the Christmas holiday we went back over to the shop to make the final design. It was a wonderful experience. Karen quickly scanned the ring, and made design modifications on the computer to the ring that were to the exact specifications of my sweetheart of 38 years. The whole process was outstanding. Karen made my wife feel like a queen. We felt extremely comfortable. The design was perfect. Karen talked us through the process and explained every thing in detail. She promised delivery of the completed ring before Valentines day. The ring was ready two weeks before the anticipated date. The price was well within my budget. The set is absolutely perfect in every way. I use Harris for all my jewelry needs, including repair, watch battery replacement, and purchasing of beautiful jewelry ...
Read moreUPDATE: I had the pleasure of participating in Harris’ buyer event today. The store was hopping with lots of traffic yet the staff remained their usual professional, kind selves. I just can’t say what a feeling of confidence I get knowing that I will always be treated like family - fairly and with smiles on everyone’s faces. If you’ve not yet visited, what’s keep you? They do not disappoint! UPDATE: I’ve continued to take advantage of the multi-talented family of staff at Harris Jewelers since my original post. I’ve been concentrating on getting 100+ y/o family antique jewelry resized, repaired, and brought up to wearable standards. I can’t praise their goldsmith, Mitch Tanner, more highly. What he has created for me (eg, rings into pendants) is really incredible. So gorgeous! If you even have a partial thought about your jewelry that requires redesign, go see Mitch. He is an ARTIST! Thank you, Mitch, for your gift in the form of your unmatched artistry. You da’ bomb!! 4/27/25. Stopped in for the first time based on reviews and recommendation from Citizen Watches as Harris being a “Dealer of Distinction.” I received a new watch that needed the band made smaller. Quick and easy - thank you Gina! Also hoped to find antique seed pearls to repair my great-grandmother’s engagement ring. Carved, drilled, antique .6mm pearls are tough to find but Gina pointed me toward a possible source. She left for lunch and left me in Stephanie’s very competent hands. I also wanted to get my mother’s wedding band repaired. Both individuals were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and just a delight with which to work. Harris Jewelers has a great vibe and as a new resident of New Mexico, I believe I’ve found my new jeweler. Can’t recommend this lovely shop and gracious employees...
Read moreLike rude? I had a white gold bail installed on a pendant to replace a small length of white gold chain and white gold jump ring. The original salesperson, a young man in training, was courteous and friendly, so his limited knowledge was inconsequential. Another, stoically curt older woman suggested the bail and I decided I liked it, though the price was a bit steep. I wanted the project done so I agreed. When picking it up, I walked in just behind another customer. The only available salesperson was the same young man, who politely acknowledged me, saying someone would be right with me. A few minutes later, Ms. Stoic finished with another customer, walked in front of me, then turned away wordlessly. She pulled out her cellphone and proceeded to show off her daughter’s new dress to another employee. When another, less rude individual approached me, feeling a bit snubbed I remarked, while presenting my claim slip for the pendant, “I must be wearing my invisible suit.” Rather than even an insincere apology, she replied, “People who stand at this counter usually need batteries replaced. Definitely not looking for sapphires.” When we dropped that pendant off, my husband and I glanced at some of sapphire pieces at that very counter and were discussing the possibility of purchasing one for Valentine’s Day. That’s not happening. There’s more. I asked for the jump ring and chain that were removed and was told it had “been scrapped.” And I will have the somewhat sloppy work touched up elsewhere. If you like to be deemed insignificant and treated rudely, then this place is for you. Not only will I never return, I am sharing the experience with friends and relatives who purchase fine...
