I love this place. Here is the deal- I am not an athlete and that’s ok.The coaches get that and help me work to my top potential. They customize the training to my level.
This gym has two options- They have high energy classes that incorporate a little bit of everything from cardio to weight training to coordination drills. Semi personal training. It’s a great concept without the costs of a 1-1 trainer. Essentially there is a group of 8-10 students that rotate between eight sections. Each section has two different exercises. The trainers/coaches walk around and show you how to do each set. If you are not doing it correctly or they see an opportunity to improve, they will share with you. If you need a confidence boost, they will cheer for you. I really like this approach as I do not want a personal trainer to watch me every second and this style gives me the perfect amount of independence with support/guidance/motivation if I need it.
Notes- I love the smoothie bar. Healthy smoothies that are low sugar. Huge perk. The coaches are great. They genuinely care and want to push you but are not over the top. They know what I need to work on and customize the workout so I stay safe but keep challenging me to push harder. My main coach is Kristen as she works nights and tends to always be there when I am there. She sold me on Faster and I’m glad she did. The Nicks, Charles, Megan, “T”, Jason, and Matt are all great. They know their stuff and get me through the workout. They really don’t have a bad egg at this place. Each have their own style but work well together. They have one of the fancy body analyzers to track your progress. Super interesting and worth trying. They work with a caterer if you need a meal plan and also sell their own supplements.

Read moreI LOVE the staff and fellow clients at Faster Pittsburgh - it's so hard to get out of bed to work out at 6am, but the chipper hello from Megan and a nice buddy to pair up with make it all worth zombie drive over.
The classes are awesome because the exercises are in 1 minute spurts (you can do anything for a minute, right??) or 3 minutes switching between 2 exercises with a partner - this makes even the worst exercise (running) doable. The staff member running the class is always very motivating while counting you down and will walk around and help make sure your form / what you are doing is correct. They provide modifications and everything has about 10 levels you can tone up or down to fit your level or needs. It's able to capture personal fitness training in a group setting, it's awesome!
The Build Bar they have is also pretty great, the smoothies are delicious and they will make them during your class so they are ready to go when you are ready to go - aka the perfect post workout breakfast!

Coach Jason DeRose pushes you to reach your goals and can motivate you to get up at 6 am and win each day! Kam Niskach leads one of the most kicka$$ hip-hop cardio classes on Monday nights too--plus P90X on Wednesday and Cize on Thursdays. She's a Beachbody master trainer. The whole staff is outstanding! And beyond the staff, the other members are welcoming and encourage you on your journey. I've met so many wonderful people at Faster.
