This was definitely not the best experience. After getting to our booth we asked which bubble teas were available but instead of telling us flavors she just flipped around her tiny iPad thing and showed us the small screen. After squinting at the screen I decided to order Thai Iced tea, but she was like no we dont have any but it was on the screen? How am I supposed to know how to read your ordering system, that's your job. Oh and also no inclusions so no bubble for the $5 bubble tea. Anyway, I ordered a black tea Matcha (yes I know Matcha is green tea but that's what she said). She gave us exactly 0.1 minutes to look at the menu after that before returning to ask for our order. We again tried to place and order only to be told half the soups were unavailable (only after trying to order each one). We decided to start ordering by asking what they did have. When we finally got our food, the soup was water with pepper in it. We poured chili oil into it but it still didnt taste all that good. The Pad Sew Ew was spelled weird. I wondered why they didnt ask for spice levels and it turns out it was because there was no need. There was no spice. The staff were not well trained; didnt know the menu, were not helpful in informing of items they were out of...the food was also disappointing. Will not be returning.

The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Thai Foon, located in Settlers Ridge in Robinson, for numerous health code violations. During an inspection on Tuesday, a dead, decayed mouse was found on a glue board below shelving in the back of the facility. Nesting material was observed by the old glue board in the back of the facility. There was an excessive number of fruit flies present in the back of the kitchen and no evidence of professional pest control. Old food debris was present on the can opener blade, the deli slicer blade and housing and on wire ladles stored next to the food preparation sink. A mold-like substance was present inside the ice chute and around several dispensers at the Pepsi soda machine. A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.

I wax in the mood for some Asian cuisine and came across this place. Delicious! Service was courteous and friendly. Very attentive. Lauren W. even gave recs as I told her that this was my first time here. Both she and the young man with locs were extremely sweet and attentive. I had the Crab Rangoon as an app. They were good! I really enjoyed the thinner wonton wrapper and lighter stuffing. They weren't stingy with the crab. You didn't bite into it and just get a mouthful of cream cheese. I also got the crispy chicken and fried rice. Oh my goodness, it really hit the spot! Idk how they keep the chicken crunchy under all that sauce but, they did. I got a spice level 3 but could've gone up a notch or two. If you really like spice, get a 5. The sauce was similar to general tso's but still very good. The fried rice was proper with scallions, egg and a great flavor. I will def be back. Karyn

I love Thai food but have never been to Thai Foon before. After my experience today, I will not be stopping there again.

From the poor service to the dry curry fried rice to the ineffectual manager, it was a bad experience all the way around.

First, I had to wait almost 10 minutes for a server to come by. When she brought my Thai iced tea (and quickly walked away), I discovered the glass was leaking all over the table from a crack down the side of the glass. When the server came by 5 minutes later, I told her and she took the glass to replace it. I thought she would also bring a cloth to wipe the table off, but she put the glass down and ran away again. I used my only napkin to wipe the table and asked for more napkins when she was passing by. The server was clearly annoyed at this request, and when she brought more napkins, she literally threw them on the table.

After waiting 45 minutes for my food to arrive, it was dry and had very little curry sauce on it. After waiting another ten minutes, I explained to the server that the food was dry and I would like some more curry sauce if they had it. She looked at me and said "I dont understand a word you're saying" I then asked to speak with the manager.

The sever never returned to my table.

The manager never came, so I asked another server for the manager. I explained to the manager what had happened, and he told me I could order something else. Since I didn't have time to wait another 45 minutes for my food, I declined and asked him for the check. He brought it but no discount. I asked for an adjustment and received a discount of $1.90 on a $20 check!

When I paid my bill and asked how he came up with that amount, he said "that's what the computer told me". He then told me that I could have ordered something else. I had only eaten one-fourth of the fried rice since it was so dry.

All in all, a disappointing experience...

UPDATE BELOW, SCROLL DOWN I love Thai Foon, I usually get the spicy basil signature dish with chicken and I substitute the regular rice with coconut rice. That sauce with the coconut rice is amazing, even if I order something else I order my usual too and save it for later.

The pho is delicious, though it's not always super spicy because they use very fresh peppers. It's great either way but it's better when you get a spicy one!

Also, they seal their bubble/jelly drinks so if you get them to go they're spill proof. If you're taking it to go somewhere with hectic driving conditions or if you're walking/biking, it's nice you know it'll be safe when you get there.

The portions are large and the prices are perfect. Definitely check it out!

UPDATE as of May 17th, 2021:

Thai Foon is no longer worth checking out. Prices have risen, many menu options have disappeared, delivery is now only available through GrubHub (which raises the price of EVERY item by more than 30%, for smaller portions now, plus it takes over an hour to find a delivery person), and worst of all they seem to have abandoned making any improvements or changes. I just called at 5pm to place an order for pickup and I got a voicemail message saying flatly "Starting in DECEMBER, we will be closed Mondays until further notice" - meaning that, assuming that voicemail was put up BEFORE December, it's been over six months since they started being closed on Mondays and there's been no update or change. They've done away with the aforementioned machine that seals their drinks really tightly and instead they use plain styrofoam cups. Literally every aspect of the restaurant that used to be good is poor now, it's declining steadily over time and it's not going to get better.

Give it a miss. It's such a shame, this place was GREAT and now it's just pointless to even...

I have eaten here from the first week they opened. The food I received was horrible and I never went back. 3 years ago a coworker said he had just had some fantastic Thai Food and I asked where and was beyond surprised when he told me where. I have eaten at Thai Foon at minimum three times a Month for the last three years for Lunch and have never been disappointed. Some of the comments made seem Whiner Like. Probably the same people that Order Hot Coffee, Spill it on themselves and then sue for getting burned. As to the heat they purposely do not make the food very hot (on a 1 to 10 scale the default is probably 3). If you request a specific heat then it is hot, a 6 or 7 is nice and a 10 is extreme. I lived abroad for many years and no food in the States is as authentic as its source for the most part (of course there are some exceptions like eastern Palace in Houston. You can get very authentic Chinese food that to an American palate is barely digestible. As to the staff nowhere has consistent staff for very long, that seems to be an American thing, the entitled American worker who deserves everything for nothing. As to Racism I cannot speak to that and if the person that made that comment is African American then you know better than anyone that unfortunately that still exists here in the States. I would recommend Thai...
