Beautiful!
Our first visit to Settlers Cabin Park after my sister made a trip there. We stayed at the nearby Drury Inn and this was our first stop with the kids.
The highlight of this park is the waterfall that you get to by trail. It’s very easy to get to unless you have issues with an incline in which case it might be tough on the way back up. It feels like it takes forever to get down, but it’s actually not very long at all and it’s very beautiful. Once you’re down there, it is very tranquil and there are lots of really pretty flowers along the way. There is a picnic table down there so if you need a seat once you get to the bottom, it is there.
Different playgrounds around the park with restrooms nearby. Swings and exercise type equipment. Tennis and basketball courts and a wave pool are also within the park. Cabins and pavilions for rental are available, picnic tables and barbecue grills. Definitely a family friendly park!
Worth the stop!
Dogs are allowed and there is a dog park available.
Good for kids with pavilions available for birthday party rental, playground, kid friendly hikes.

Read moreMy husband has been training and doing trail races here for years. I didn't get the appeal until he finally dragged me (kicking and screaming) out there TWO weekends in a row. I'm slowly returning to hiking after a long break.
Main trails are heavily trafficked, so please be polite and have a mask handy for passing others. Other than that and the muddy bits (not uncommon for trails like these tbh), this is a really diverse and underrated trail system conveniently located in the metro area which, honestly, is typically overlooked a lot.
Minimal levels of litter visible and trail markers are in the process of being updated. Higher trafficked trails are better maintained and cut back (obviously), however don't discount the less popular ones. Wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots and pants and you won't regret taking an afternoon or two to...
Read moreHad a reunion, today, at Settlers Cabin. We rented out Seneca pavilion. When we arrived to set up, the pavilion was a mess. Food all over the floor, food all over the picnic tables, as well as sauces splattered all over the place. There were push pin tacks laying all over the concrete slab, and scattered all in the grass, as well as sticking in the picnic tables. Also, hundreds of broken balloons laying in the pavilion and un the grass. Then, there were 2 garbage cans filled with garbage and no bag in either of them. Obviously, the park staff never inspected it nor cleaned it up for the next renters, which was us. Very dirty!!! Finally, the bathrooms were horrible. So dirty, and pee and toilet paper all over the floors. And the pit toilets stunk so bad. Not happy...
