Last night Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter—Rockford posted an 8 month old male German Shepherd that would be available for adoption today.
I filled out the application immediately (and honestly—mentioning that I do have 2 shepherds and a Jack Russell already, hopeful that my shepherd experience would work in my favor) and gathered all my dogs’ paperwork, ready to present.
Today, I arrived at the shelter early with both of my children (3.5 year old and 11 month old) to stand in line with everyone else and was not even allowed inside because my husband and THREE dogs were not present. Apparently this was a special requirement for this specific dog.
Noah’s Ark, I’m sorry but how was that supposed to be possible? As my application you required (and I’m certain didn’t review) stated, I am a stay at home mom; therefore, my husband works…which was also noted.
I’m also confused…and concerned…about your requirement to bring in not one but THREE dogs from an established pack, with young children, to meet a dog that none of us have even seen. Again, how was this ideal??
I left with hopes to return later that evening with my husband, three dogs, and two very young children. Assuming, since the adoption was application based, you would take the time to review the applicants and contact the family after x amount of time that you felt would be the best fit.
I am disappointed to say the least. For a shelter that claims to have such a thorough adoption policy, I was SHOCKED to learn this dog was adopted out before I even made it home.
I do hope the pup went to a good family. I know we would have provided him with a wonderful life that sadly you didn’t even take a moment...
Read moreI just has the WORST experience with Noah's Ark!!! No communication there either!! Went in to adopt a puppy they had posted. Only 8 weeks old. They tried to Neuter him prematurely without checking if he was able to have the surgery... Since he wasn't ready, they couldn't complete the procedure and stitched him back up. They told me to pick him up and said he was neutered. Showed up and then told me he wasn't. He ended up with Seroma and an infection after the procedure. I took him back to be looked at and they ended up keeping him for over a week because the vet couldn't see him right away. A week!!! In a small cage sitting in pee with his food and water scattered all over. I went to visit him several times while he was there since they would NOT let me take him home. Once he came back home he was urinating every 15 minutes. Took him back again within 24 hrs to be rechecked. Again they kept him overnight (for no reason). They "said" they ran a urinalysis and he was fine. Then proceeded to tell me they were going to keep him because they didn't think it was a good fit. Apparently they didn't like the fact that I was asking questions about the care he was receiving (or lack there of). After a phone argument they finally let me take him. I Immediately took him to my vet. It's a good thing I did because they showed me the new urinalysis which showed a UTI. I don't trust Noah's Ark at all and have...
Read moreOk this is getting ridiculous! I adopted my cat Shuri from Noah's Ark about 6 years ago, and have NEVER had a problem dealing with you, until this year!
4 months ago I was considering a 2nd cat from Noah's Ark but was given a hard time about it from a VOLUNTEER! I didn't go through anything like that when I adopted Shuri. Why now?
3 months ago you raised the price of a NAIL TRIM from $5 to $8, again why? I realize and appreciate the fact that you rely on donations and such, but a nail trim? It's not like I was purchasing goods or anything, and I believe you are tax exempt, so why the need for a nail trim price increase?
2 months ago I went to purchase some cat food - the VOLUNTEER couldn't find my card (even tho I have TWO cards there) and then proceeded to say the bag of food wouldn't count towards a free bag anyways because it was/is a smaller size (there weren't larger size of that particular flavor available).
Today I purchased ANOTHER bag of cat food (a different flavor of the same brand - I always switch flavors for her) and the person FOUND both cards - but proceeded to say I couldn't use this purchase on said cards cuz it was a different flavor (never heard that as a condition before). However, then she read that there were INDEED different flavors on that particular purchase card? I do not understand that reasoning at all!
You have lost my business & my support...
