If you care about nurturing your creativity 🧠🌈, your community 🏘 your wallet 💰 and the environment ♻️🌎 then you must go to The Scrap Jar BEFORE stepping foot in a chain store for your supplies.
I refuse to spend money at Hobby Lobby for ethical reasons, and Michael's can be so expensive. That left me with ZERO options in Rockford...until now!
Financially 🤑 The Scrap Jar is more than affordable. This is especially true if you're looking to try a new hobby and don't want to break the bank gathering your starter materials. You can buy craft supplies for your kids without feeling guilty as they learn by trial and error how to care for their belongings 😅
When I visited the shop, I wanted to try making sun catchers... I totally hit the jackpot! There was a GIANT necklace full of crystals for $10. I know all too well that if I could even FIND similar materials at a chain store, those crystals would have been sold individually for a much higher price.
With the materials I found, I've made 15 sun catchers and counting! Now my home is full of refracted light and I have presents for upcoming birthdays and holidays throughout the year 🎁 I spent less than $20 for all the beads and supplies. This included the big crystal necklace, a different necklace, a full bag of equipment for making stud earrings, 3 additional full bags of sparkly beads, and a bag of necklace chain. It was so exciting to find exactly what I needed and not have to sacrifice being able to afford groceries in exchange for my artistic expression! ☀️🌈😎
Selection 🤌 The range of supplies they've already accumulated from donations is mind boggling! 🤯 There were materials for stained glass, stamping, painting, jewelry making, every possible kind of fiber art, and more. Everything was displayed clearly and beautifully. 🧶🧵🎨
My boyfriend has never been inclined to make art, but even he was inspired by the atmosphere we walked into at The Scrap Jar. I'm delighted to say it felt like heaven to both of us! Usually he is just a passenger to my crafting experiences 😂The fact that this shop mad him light up and feel like art was accessible to him, was unexpected and priceless. I can't wait to see his craft journey unfold as we continue to visit.
Not only are we excited to visit this shop FIRST for all of our creative needs... we're excited to share what we have with others. The sad side of crafting is often feeling like you've accumulated too much and you just want to make sure things get used! It's a relief to have a communal resource here in town to feel like we're receiving a gift, and also contributing to others.
I want to sincerely thank the owner for her vision and execution in bringing this shop to our city. You are a gift and a breath of fresh air! Humans need to connect and create, and more than ever, we want to waste less. What you're doing is special and important!
I hope if you haven't seen the shop yet, you make the trip right away!...
