Some good deals to be had hiding between face masks and iphone cases, but the vast majority of items are in plain brown boxes that don't have any indication of what's inside. However, they repeatedly play a recording claiming they're going to press charges for opening these unmarked boxes (as if the Rockford PD cares if someone opens an unmarked box of garbage inside a dirty, rundown returns store). I laugh every time it plays because it's so ludicrous and cringeworthy- the ONLY people who consider it "tampering with merchandise" are the owners I guess- obviously the customers don't and neither does law enforcement. I'm embarrassed for whoever came up with the idea every time I hear it. Yes, you can wait in line for an employee to open a box and show you what's inside only to tape it back up without labeling it in any way, or you can scan the "Transparency" QR code, which is on no more than 5% of boxes and works about 30% of the time... Anyway- they seem to believe all their customers are thieves and will treat you as such- to the point that you have to be escorted to the bathroom! That's not to say it's all bad, I have found a couple good deals here, but overall it's a place I only go if others I'm with want to, not a place I'd go willingly. And always bring hand sanitizer for when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere is always something interesting to find at Treasure Hunt Deals. Sometimes you find exactly what you've been looking for, often for a better price. Other times, one can go into Treasure Hunt Deals and walk out with a cart load of all sorts of things you never knew you needed before that day. š The employees are generally all pretty friendly and helpful. The Amazon Shopping app can be used to scan the barcodes on the boxes to determine what is inside the plain boxes or just get more information about the item. If the app doesn't work, or one wants to be sure all of the components are there and nothing is broken, they have an open box station where one if the employees will open the box, bag, etc up so that you can inspect the contents there. If you don't want the item(s), they will tape it closed again. Do not open a package on your own because that will result in you being kicked out. They regularly make announcements, reminding you not to open items. With a few exceptions, like the large kitchen appliances, bicycles, some small electronics, and books, the prices for everything are currently $8 on Fridays, $6 on Saturdays, $4 on Sundays, $3 on Mondays, $2 on Tuesdays, and $1 on Wednesdays. They are closed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs long as you understand what it is and isn't, it's great. I wear gloves when I go. You're basically digging around through piles of boxes. Some indicate what's on them, and some are lying. The store buys amazon returns in bulk and then just puts items out at a set price each day that diminishes over the course of the week (starting friday at the highest price and ending wednesday at the lowest). They don't check the boxes and a lot of people lie about returning items and will return a box filled with other things. Some items were legitimately returned due to being broken or defective. They do have open box stations, so you can look inside before you buy. The only thing is that sometimes the lines for these open box areas are quite long. Checkout is a breeze, though, just count and pay (discount if you pay cash). I come here and often resell items I find on ebay, sometimes at quite a profit. Items I see here very often are decorations, clothing, shoes, costumes, wigs, linens. I've gotten new rollerblades, electronics, computer parts, art supplies, furniture. A lot of junk too, but that's contemporary capitalism for you. They also sell dented appliances and bicycles at...
