The overall quality of tools at HF has increased steadily over the past 25 years but they still cater to the budget-minded shade tree mechanic. You used to find better deals but now almost ALL of the "good stuff" is exempt from their famous coupons - something that has driven at least $20k worth of my business towards higher quality competitors due to price point approaching similar territory. That being said, this location usually has decent stock; knowledgeable staff; and a relaxed atmosphere even though the employees get super busy at times. Ample parking.
Only thing I would change is they should post a sign or have customers sign an acknowledgement that if you have to return anything with a gas engine, it must be drained DRY of all fluids. This is probably written somewhere, and its most likely the law, but having it posted in a prominent spot would be helpful on the rare occasion it applies.
Hint to Corporate.... bring back the old days of allowing the 20% coupon on any single item (instead of exempting nearly all brands), and your customers will spend more money ! It is blatantly obvious that the "name brand" products are re-labeled stuff from the same manufacturers (yes, I have verified this by emailing the chinese corporations in the past). This tactic allows them to be exempted from the coupons and drives up margins without a quality bump. Other predominantly American brands tried this years ago and theyre not doing well these days. Stick...
Read moreFor those of you who wont read this whole thing, this review is for the sales manager James! AMAZING customer service. To start i live in Texas and my mom is in California. She has a car seat in her car for the grandkids to which the latch broke and got stuck in her car. She called me asking what she could do to get it out and the only solution was to use a grinder or some sort of reciprocating saw to cut it out. I told her she could get a cheap one at Harbor Freight. So my mom goes to Harbor Freight, knowing nothing about tools, finding battery powered grinders, unsure if they come with the grinding disc or what at all she needs to buy. In comes James, she asks for help explaining her situation. James not wanting her to destroy her seats snd car or hurt herself using a grinder when she never has before suggested against that purchase. When she asked if he had any tools or suggestions on what she can purchase to potentially get it out is when the 5 star service came in. Mind you, it was 105° outside and James came to the parking lot, went to the back seat of her car and proceeded to get to work on the car seat. James removed the car seat from her car that, mind you, has been there for about 8...
Read moreWent to this store to purchase a tool box, was told by Josh that it was not an issue, we stepped aside so he could help other customers and returned to the counter, upon our return Josh changed his mind or decided he no longer wanted to do what his job duties ask of him, and said it was "store policy" that he could not load the toolbox into our truck as it was a forklift item and even though another employee was present, he or the other employee could not be in the back doing forklift stuff. Which makes absolutely no sense, WHY in the first place is this policy not written somewhere that employees will choose when they want to assist customers with their purchases, if certain purchases are not allowed to be picked up after a certain time, maybe there should be a sign or notice stating that fact so your not wasting the consumers time! This was our 2nd experience at this store today. Same employee, 2 very negative experiences within 3 hours. Maybe just maybe teach your employees what company policy and store policy actually is because consumers do expect to be able to purchase and pick up items during "business hours" not hours set by your employees deciding when and what work their in...
