European Market & Deli "Beryozka" — Local services in Rocklin

My 11 year old son is really into Russia right now so when he found out this market carried russian food he was excited. A young man came out and showed us all the Russian food items in the deli, bakery, and store. He explained each one. He answered all my sons questions and was super nice and polite. He even let us try the Russian cheese and salami for free. They were wonderful. The cheese was so good I'll be going back to get a pound when we run out of our normal cheddar cheese at home. They had a selection of Russian hats my son wanted to know the name of and he told him and even looked it up online so my son could see how it was spelled and pronounce it better. Let's be honest. Overall, it's a good store. You can't get these products everywhere, but still, getting home and realizing your bread is moldy and your carrot salad is old isn't fun - especially when you live an hour and a half away. I called and told them because I didn't want to put something bad here. I don't know if I'm being too picky here, but I assumed they would offer some type of compensation next time - especially since I live so far! So, here's my rating of 3 stars. Rotten food should merit a 1 star, but I believe there was an oversight. It's hard to purchase Cinderella bread from San Francisco for a small business and to keep it fresh - unless you put it in the refrigerator like they did to other breads. The store has some interesting items and a better selection but slightly higher prices than Viva supermarket in Rancho Cordova. There are fruits, vegetables, sauces, creams, breads, pastas, desserts, meats, cheeses, and more from Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Balkans etc. but Pacific Coast foods has a wider assortment. It looks relatively clean and well-organized. I like how you can walk into this store without being greeted.
