Kate is an angel. She worked with me on a birthday gift for my husband. My husband lost his father in 2013, after a brief and unrelenting battle with cancer. He didn’t get the chance to leave anything behind and this was something my husband has commented on from time to time, he also mentioned how much he wished his Dad could have met our son. The kind of loss and grief that ebbs and flows forever, something only those who have lost someone knows too well. I wanted to give him something to honor his Dad and who he’s become as a father. All I had was scraps of an idea: an old letter his father wrote when my husband was in high school about all of his hopes he had for his own son, the hope he’d one day have a grandchild whose hand he could hold who looked just like my husband, and photos. Our son looks just like his Dad. Kate took those scraps, magically prophetic, and turned them into a beautiful complete piece. Something we’ll treasure forever. I gave her treasured items, old pictures, and she painstakingly made sure nothing was cut or altered. She knew she was working with memories and I’m so grateful for that. She’s an artist and so kind. A large picture that used to belong to my dad was damaged when it fell off the wall. I was absolutely heart broken for the picture meant so much to my dad and to me.
