I never EVER leave reviews but because Dillards screwed me over, I think I will this time.
I bought a white button up shirt for a gift. Noticed it had two brown faded spots on the tag and collar, barley noticeable, so I went ahead and bought it, washed it and didn’t think anything else of it. The shirt did not fit the recipient of my gift, so I called this place… TWICE…. to confirm that I could return the shirt despite washing it. I was told as long as I have some yellow tag and the receipt then I was good. Ok, “what yellow tag” was my first question. Apparently they stick one on after your purchase, which they didn’t for mine (I even told the staff they could check their security cameras if they thought I was lying, which they clearly did). I didn’t have the receipt either because I thought Dillards had advanced into the 21st century, and had the technological capability to look up my purchase through my card like almost any other place. On top of that, I even had bank statements with me to prove I bought the damn shirt!
But nope, instead I was accused of wearing it, then I was laughed at by the employees when I explained why I washed it. Apparently they think Jesus is the CEO and ensures all their product arrives in pristine condition, so there was simply no way it was their fault. This seems to be a common reoccurring theme amongst other reviews in regards to lack of info on returns and staff being rude. I’m a manager myself at my place of employment and I ALWAYS make an effort to help the customer, no matter how limited my options are! Your managers are 20-30 years older than me and don’t seem to grasp this concept, which is embarrassing. They clearly were not inclined to help. Just laugh.
What’s funny is that Dillards continues to decline year-over-year in market share and business and I’m really starting to see why. Thanks for this experience, I’m glad I...
Read moreI walk to the men’s section and I’m following a manager wearing a fancy poncho looking thing. Black and white. She has a foreign accent and she is berating the employee following her. She makes her look like a total a*s in front of everyone. You can tell the manager thinks she’s being “cool” to all the customers. It was appalling and disgusting. She was in her 40’s and dark hair. The employee was taking it and you could tell was trying to make light of the situation. That “manager” needs to be let go or sent to manager academy. She made me cringe. Then...she did the same thing to a man and a woman looking to buy cologne. She was a total know-it-all making fun of the guy and my wife started to say something to her, but I wouldn’t let her.
The other lady back in the men’s Perry Ellis section was buried in her phone texting while I was shopping. I eventually HAD to interrupt her texting to ask where the RAW section was she let me know that Fayetteville was the only place to carry it, and then when back to texting.
I have managed many businesses in my life. It is easy to say that there isn’t an actual manager here. The customer service was not only void of this place, but it dipped below zero on how the actual employees conducted themselves. I’d have a SERIOUS talk with the manager that was on the floor during the evening of February 16th, 2019. She wasn’t training or leading the team to be better. I’d imagine she’s one of the reasons this place is a cold and damp cave, probably like her managing skills.
I have a prediction:
This store will close within the...
Read moreNice looking store. Terrible first experience.
I went in to look for a wedding suit. I walked into the men’s department to begin my search. I was looking at expensive options because I was ready to spend that. The very first interaction that I had was an older, taller man who worked there zooming past me and saying “We have good discounts over in the Big and Tall section” and continued to walk by. That was how I was greeted.
I am younger and have tattoos. I imagine that the comment was made because of that. But along with that, I make enough money to live very comfortably. A nice suit at Dillard’s is far from something that I would struggle with purchasing. Especially for my wedding day.
An addition to that, is the “Big and Tall” section comment. I know my sizes and was looking at a suit rack that had three of my exact measurements on it. I am a bit of a larger man, but around 10 sizes smaller than the smallest available in that section.
Terrible first experience. I decided to end my shopping right there and walked straight out the front door. Decided to walk to JC Penny’s across the mall and was able to purchase everything I needed. I have no interest in trying this location again. My first experience described here was enough to make...
