Bussey’s Florist & Gifts — Local services in Rome

I had a wedding back in November 2018, and when I explain my story you will understand the delay of the review.

My wedding was simple. We got married on our farm. The only bouquet I had designed by a florist was my own as my bridesmaids were going to be built by my mother-in-law. In my initial consultation with Justin, I requested wine (deep purple) dahlias. He asked me if I was specific about the flower or the color. I said the color. He showed me a mum that was the perfect color and explained how we could make it into a beautiful bouquet. We had talked about using WHITE roses, dusty miller, and baby's breath to make the bouquet. We also ordered stems of the purple mums along with baby's breath as that was going to be the bridesmaid's bouquets and our centerpieces.

Fast forward to the wedding.. We had sent someone to pick up the flowers that was not part of the original consultation and that is where we went wrong. The mum color for the individual stems and the bouquet was wrong. They had created a bouquet that some might find pretty, but it was not my bouquet. It had red roses (which I hate), red daisies, light pink roses, berries, and white roses. We sent someone back to Bussey's to tell them the bouquet was wrong and request they fix it. The lady up at the front argued with my friend saying this is what I ordered. It got to the point my friend called me and I had to speak with the woman who told me there was a miscommunication and that this is what was written down as my order. I explained again that this was not in fact not what I ordered and that they needed to change the bouquet. They were able to put together a bouquet that was similar to what I had requested but still with the wrong color mums.

After the wedding, my mother-in-law reached out to Bussey's and explained our unhappiness with the events that transpired and when they apologized to her she requested that they call or email me, the bride, and apologize as well. The request for an apology was made in November. It is January and I have not heard an apology issued yet.

I personally would not recommend this florist to anyone and am very unsatisfied with the service...

It is unusually difficult to send flowers these days. You never know if you're working with a florist or someone who farms out jobs to others. I for one am tired of thinking I'm ordering an arrangement and having a kit with raw materials delivered instead. Worse, I am tired of having someone who doesn't even know what I ordered put something random together and delivering it. If you have had the same issues, do yourself a favor and next time call Bussey's. They are honest and care about the results they deliver. I was busy and almost forgot to order flowers for my mom on her birthday this year. I logged into Bussey's site at about 1PM and selected an arrangement for delivery that afternoon. I knew they wouldn't likely be able to meet that request, but I was desperate. A short time after placing the order I received a phone call from a very concerned person confessing their inability to deliver that afternoon. I assured them it was okay and they promised to take care of it the following day, which they did. My mom loved the flowers and of course didn't mind them being a little late. A couple days later I received a hand written postcard in the mail thanking me for my patience.

I recently used Bussey's Florist for my wedding. I can not rave about them enough! They are truly my life savers. While driving to the wedding venue, I had a mini panic attack when I realized that I forgot to send them a picture of my wedding cake. I called them right away and they calmly told me that they would take care of it. I am so glad they did. My cake was beautiful and because we lost the wedding cake toppers. I would have had a completely naked cake if it was not for them. Also, the bouquets were perfect! They were so beautiful, unique, and like nothing I have seen before. Andrea listened to my ideas and improved on it so much. My arch was gorgeous! She was able to incorporate my favorite flowers which was a nice surprise when I walked down the aisle.
