DO NOT EAT HERE!! This place started out GREAT! Food was 2 out of 5 when it came to variety and selection, however what COMPLETELY ruined our appetite and experience was the cook in the back coughing and sneezing 🤧 over the food before bringing it out and placing it on the buffet line!! YES YOU HEARD AND READ ME RIGHT!! COUGHING AND SNEEZING OVER THE FOOD!! Today is 3/31/24 a Sunday, so restaurant was sorta packed with Hispanics and church goers, me and my wife being truckers were in SHANNON, Ga awaiting a pickup, we chose CHEN CHEN due to its PRICE $12.95 per person for buffet, upon arrival we thought the crowded atmosphere meant GREAT FOOD and SERVICE, but BOY WAS WE WRONG!! The best thing about this place was the DRINKS! Tea was sweet & Dr Pepper seemed sweeter than off the shelf. About 2 plates in, we got up for a 3rd and dessert, only to walk by the kitchen area located behind the grill section next to the seafood 🦞 and heard a loud sneeze 🤧, I looked back and saw the cook/server who had a large bowl of Lo Mein getting ready to let off a second sneeze 🤧, by the time I turned my head to locate the 1st sneeze, he was already letting off the second one OVER THE FOOD!! Yes Folks, OVER THE LO MEIN NOODLES he was bringing out to serve the guests. Which instantly made me want to throw up in my mouth, I had already eaten 2 plates, which we had overlooked the coughing going on in the SAME KITCHEN upon arrival. The cough occurred as a waiter was walking in to the kitchen area. I say all to say this, UNLESS YOU WANT COVID OR SOME OTHER STRANGE INFECTIOUS DISEASE/Diagnosis… AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS !! Our meal came up to $33 which is WAY OVER PRICED for GERMS 🦠!! These people seem to hate Americans, but love our money, due to the fact that they would so BLATANTLY DISRESPECT hard working people coming to patronize their establishment BY SERVING US GERMS!! 0 out of 5 stars for...
Read moreMy husband and I went here for a quick meal last weekend. I was a bit apprehensive, because we were here last year and I didn't enjoy it at all! Very over crowded and the family at the table in front of us kept playing with food, talking inappropriately and making a big mess. I was surprised they weren't thrown out! But when they left,I kid you not, they left plates of wasted food about a foot high all over the table. Folks, when you pay your hard earned money to go out to eat,you don't want noisy ,nasty ,vulgar acting folks ruining your meal. The food was also bland to me and not many choices with vegetables in them. Also ,it hasn't improved in the comfort department. You are still jammed up too close to other tables and booths. But anyway, we decided to try it again. It is a small buffet and they've added a tiny hibachi. The buffet tables are too close together and are small. There aren't a lot of vegetables in their dishes. I just picked me some broccoli and carrots out of one dish. It would be good if they had some shredded raw carrots and some raw onions on the buffet. They need more vegetables in their dishes! The best thing on the buffet that saved the day for me,was the kimchi! Yes! Kimchi and actually very good! It added flavor to the food I was eating and made ordinary, taste way better! I would go again just for that Kimchi! But basically, unless you're a meat lover, there's not a lot of variety. It's okay and has improved in food quality since last year. I'd go again but it's just iI's just not as spicy as I like my Chinese food to be. Another thing is that they have all the tables and booths jammed up too close together. It's like sitting in a sardine can! And for those who say it's the only Chinese buffet in town..... Not true! The Ladies restroom was very clean,so I cannot...
Read moreWHY BEG FOR TIPS! Every time my boyfriend and I go there to eat we have a different experience. The first time we went he was denied Coke, he was told to choose a different drink. The other couple of times, it has been the same issue.. The blonde/ light brown haired chinese lady, is always begging for a tip... first of all tips are OPTIONAL! Secondly if we leave anything less than $3 she beggs for more... thats was happened last time, our check was around $38, we paid in card but decided to leave cash as tip. (As i have never liked leaving tips on card) we barely carry change, but we had $4 that we "left". She was hovering over me as i signed the receipt and gave me looks when she saw that i did a line next to tip... next we leave the $4 and said "mas" (more!) As if i didn't understand English. I said "no, that's it... no more cash" she takes the receipt I signed and gives me the other and says " tip.. 6" I starred at her feeling second hand embarrassment and just gave the $6 tip...
I then went back with family and she did the same thing she did before (demand a higher tip) before we left the kids grabbed icecream, ate it there but didnt finish it... she saw us walking out and followed us out the door because we didnt pay the ice-cream, when each cup had like a spoonful left because we ate it there!
Please do something with that lady in specific. I am sure most complaints on tips are because of her. Thats why they loose people, including me... and MY family and friends...
