I privately purchased a used Activia Bernina sewing machine for use while traveling. I’ve been very happy with the machine however I took it to Quilter’s Haven to have a Free Hand System presser foot lifter added to it. Floyd was able to get it installed before we left on our trip to Utah to visit family. While in Utah, I was sewing and discovered the bobbin winder would not work. It had previously worked perfectly. I called Quilter’s Haven and left a message but after several hours had not heard back from them. I ended up taking my machine into a Bernina dealer in Salt Lake City. Despite them having a 2 1/2 week back up on machine repairs, they took a look at my machine. Upon taking the cover off, they found the bobbin winder was incorrectly plugged in as well as other wiring being left very close to the motor. They were very concerned about the previous work I had done on the machine and told me the machine could have very easily been completely ruined with the wiring so close to the motor . They had my machine ready to go within 10 minutes of me stepping foot in the store. I am very thankful they found the errors. I did call Quilter's Haven back to let them know, thinking they would want to refund me. I was disappointed they didn’t make any attempt to make things right. I have loved shopping at Quilter’s Haven in the past however I would never recommend taking any machine to them for any...
Read moreMeh! The fabric selection is small but beautiful and well curated. Unfortunately the older lady that was present when I got there took FOREVER to acknowledge my presence and then when I asked if they had more of a particular bolt (since there clearly wasn’t enough for my project) I got a curt one word “no”. No hint if more could be ordered or directing me to similar fabrics or any indication I was anything but an inconvenience. Another younger lady came in a few minutes later and was immediately helpful but I was about ready to walk out. I love supporting small businesses, rather than Joanne, but unless I happen to be at nearby Flugals for something else, I doubt I will go out of my way to go to...
Read moreWhen I am there (I've been there 3 times now), the owner does not smile, does not welcome me into her shop. Her attitude is that she'd prefer I not be there. This is in marked contrast to the other 4 shops in the area where I purchase quilt materials. Those shop owners and their coworkers smile, are welcoming and helpful. Not so at Quilter's Haven. I go there only to have my machine serviced, although it is a long way from my home. If I could find another good technician, I would not go...
