Dirty. Dirty. Dirty. First of all, they're using this whole paper towel/push button sanitizer thing for people to clean the equipment with only like 2-3 stations I can think of in eyesight of the free weights and weight machines (and that is a BIG area). Since there aren't garbage cans out on the floor, just near the 2-3 stations that are scattered around the gym, paper towels tend to end up on the floor and just kind of blowing around like tumbleweeds. That's if people even bother to use them, and since LA is not making it convenient, most don't. What happened to good old spray bottles living every 10 feet in the gym like everywhere else? One day I stepped on a Band-Aid. Plain as day, I should have missed it, but there it was literally in the middle of the aisle near the bench presses, and at 6ish in the morning. One could hypothesize how many times it must have been passed over by staff for it to be there somewhat ground into the gym mats at 6 A.M., but I won't. I needed to take a you know what one day during an evening workout around 6-7 P.M. when it's quite busy. 2 of the three sit-down toilets in the men's room were plugged, and not just plugged, but like near the top with dirty water. Went to the last stall, and the seat was gross, so I grabbed paper towels and soap to wash the seat off. Just about sat down to go and noticed that the stall was out of TP. Went to the plugged up stalls - both also out of TP. Like, c'mon, guys. I get it, they want it to be the cool place to workout, have tons of amenities and classes, and even have a DJ some days. Woo hoo. Pretty underwhelming when you can't even hit one of the the core basics of running a business that serves the public: cleanliness. I'd also like to mention the solicitous sales calls to get you to utilize their personal trainers and such. I'm sure they are fine people, but I am not impressed by what I observed from their training. Judge for yourself, because maybe that's what some new people need. Anyway... No means no: if I say I don't want or need your services when I sign up, don't call me. I cancelled today with no regrets. P.S. you might want to think about beefing up that rickety railing around the sauna rocks before someone starts to pass out and grabs it only to realize that it has as much integrity as some kite string taped to the wall, and then faceplants and burns themselves/drops a fat lawsuit on you for not having safety measures that actually function as safety measures. And get some dumbbells that go over 100# for...
Read moreI have been to quite a few health clubs in my day and this is by far the best I have had a membership with.
I say that as a 2xPowerhouse, Metro Family, Snap, and another independent membership holder.
The money down hurts but the money I spend a month with them, that will not change until I die or stop paying them, is nothing.
This particular club is new and clean. The members are all pretty decent and everyone stays to themselves listening to headphones and patiently waiting for equipment. The wait is few and far between as the floor has at least two machines for that particular motion, with few exceptions. Most people keep it clean and do their best to keep it that way. Most of us are there to keep our bodies nice and neat and we treat the facility the same.
When the parking lot is packed, it usually is not busy on the floor. Most of the people during the rush are the cardio heads and fitness class moms.
The pool area is clean and quiet. It has a few older people at any given time of day, as expected with a community pool.
The basketball area is usually full but it appears that it is pretty civil and people that are waiting for pick up games get right in.
Overall, I am very happy to be a member of this club. In fact, I visited the signature club in Troy and found that I would much rather be at my Roseville club any day of the week.
Some of the negatives:
Needs more dead lift space.
The personal trainer situation is very expensive.
The sales members are good at knowing how much sales is tolerable.
Overall? It is a pretty good investment of your money as long as you are willing to invest the time...
Read moreI recently moved to the SCS area, today was my second time at the gym. I am super annoyed today that there were several people in the womens locker room with their phones out recording themselves in the mirror for Snapchat or whatever and FaceTiming. This is a private changing room, do you not have any respect or decency for the other people in the room. Do you think I want my half naked body going viral on some social media platform. I was disgusted by the ignorance and lack of mannerisms in the locker room today. Also the floor was very dirty in the sauna, bathroom, shower and pool area. Hair and grime, it was disgusting. The handicap bathroom stall (where I had to change to avoid being recorded) looked like the floor surrounding the toilet hand not ever been cleaned before. I forgot my flip flops and was totally grossed out and wore my socks instead. The gym looks newer and the equipment is ok, but there were several machines with paper towel and garbage just laying there and I did not see any staff members cleaning at all while I was there. Really disappointing, I hope upper management reads this and does something about it. The womens locker rooms are absolute gross and the sign out front regarding the cell phone recording etc apparently means absolutely nothing. Like go home and record yourself in the mirror. NOT in a private changing room with other women. Have some decency and respect! You can tell the poor hygiene of the locker rooms and surrounding areas has being going on for a while, there is built up crud everywhere that happens over...
