You know they're hurting when they won't even refund you the taxes on a game for a return. My mother in law and brother both accidentally got me NCAA for PS5 for Christmas, I had a gift receipt for one so after I got home I went to take it in to return it. This whole process was extremely annoying.
Guy behind the counter scans it and on the screen it clearly says I'm owed $43 and some change, he goes "Oh you have $40 credit", not including the taxes. I let it slide but whatever, started looked around the store to find something around the $40 mark, to do an even trade which was hard enough anyway to find something, 90% of everything in there is overpriced.
While I'm looking around I checked on their website too, clearly says in writing that when a return is processed that the taxes are included, I also even called GameStop after I got home to confirm that as well.
When I was looking around I saw a figure that I recognized on Amazon and they had two different versions, each listed for $80 each. I checked on Amazon, one was listed for $20, the other was $40 (not even discounted on Amazon). I asked this new guy who appeared behind the register (appeared to be the manager) if they price matched, "NO, not during the holidays". Ok fine. Continue to look around and find a pre-owned game that's $50, and $47 with a pro membership.
Go to checkout, new dude scans my NCAA and clearly can't pull up the correct price, again shows me I'm owed $43 and still gives me $40 credit. I decided to say something about the missing tax and he starts getting defensive "YEAH $40 credit and $47 so you still owe me $7." He actually did throw on a $5 birthday credit that I had from my pro membership but still charged me $2, when I shouldn't have paid anything because I SHOULD have been credited $43 to begin with. I'm not really mad about the money just moreover the principal of the matter and how they treat customers after all this time.

Read moreIt's been a long time since I've stepped foot in a GameStop. I had grown tired and weary of their outdated model, bad rewards program, and subpar customer service. I'm very happy to say though that in 2021, GameStop has changed for the better.
The store itself was very clean and modern looking, and despite the tiny storefront it had a nice selection of video games and other products. They had an entire wall section of PC products from Razer and each of the current gen consoles had a dedicated hardware section. The Funko Pop section was massive, and they had some cool merch as well as some basic Dungeons and Dragons supplies. My favorite part is the Gashapon machine, which looks like a space age toy dispenser!
The customer service was excellent. The employee was very helpful and friendly, but not overbearing. When it was time to check out, he made sure to properly update our contact information. Our last name is a little weird, but he didn't get frustrated at all with us and was cheerful through the entire interaction. He also told us about how the rewards program has changed since we last had it. For just $15/year, you get a whole lot more than their old program so we absolutely said yes!
I am so thrilled with our experience! We walked in not really intending on buying anything, but we left with a little haul that made us feel good. I absolutely would recommend going to GameStop as a whole again, and this particular...
Read moreDONT BUY USED EQUIPMENT. I recently purchased a controller from the gamestop on Mcknight road. There is nothing to be said about the service other then the fact that they spent 30 minutes helping test someones console when all I wanted to do was purchase something. I do realize though it may have seemed rude if they stopped helping them to help me. I finally got my controller and asked about the return policy as I know when buying used stuff you have to be careful. It was only 30 days and unfortunately at this point that time has passed it's probably been about 2 months. The reason I am leaving a 1 star review however is because upon taking apart the controller because it didnt work properly I took out and replaced the micro usb from one of my other controllers which r3 button doesnt fully move forward. Upon comparing the two controllers it was clear that the micro usb that came from the used controller was fried. It had white debris all around the inside of the port and was clearly not properly functioning. This should be the first thing that they notice if they are examining a controller to be determined if they can resell it for 45$. I got scammed and hopefully my review will be enough to deter you from falling into the same trap I did. All the best, A dissatisfied long-time gamestop customer, who's officially switched over to...
