I called the center (america best glasses, rossford OH) at 10:16 AM on June 14 to make an appointment for my daughter. A female employee took my call and set my appt on June 21, 5:50 PM.When I told her we are eye club member, than I felt she seemed to be disappointed and did not care much about my appt. Today, I drove more than one hour to visit the center. But, my appt was not in the system because the female employee did not make an appt. I had to visit twice, but they never apologized for their mistake. As many reviews said, overall employees are rude and not responsible. I felt very bad whenever I visited.
I have visited this business three or four times before, but I felt very unpleasant whenever I visited there. In particular, all employees were not kind and sometimes rude. They seemed to care about only new customers.
Do not visit this business and do not buy a membership of eye club. They always try to rip you by forcing you to use their own brand product. I googled today and found there were may complaint about America best glasses. I understand why.
This business needs to train its employees how to serve customers. Keep away from this business. Once my eye club membersbhip expires, I will never visit this business.
One more thing you must know about this business' horrible practice before you purchase a membership of this business' eye club that provides free eye exam for three years. I purchased the membership for my kids but I had t squabble over the brand of the lens. They always force my kids to try and buy their brand rather than our preferred and best fitting brand (Acuvue) . So, we had to visit twice!! Always. Three years ago, I introduced this membership to my neighbor, but they did not take eye exam there because of the same reason. They forced my friends to purchase their own poor quality brand!!! I will never come back to this business once my membership expires. I' m ready to squabble over the brand issue again this year, but it is the last. In addition the employees are always rude, did not care customers. Always asked us to do additional meaningless extra exams for additional charge! Don't do that! They are meaningless exams. After my bad experience with the business, I did not choose this business for my another kid. He goes to another local vision center. They are very friendly and let my kid to wear the brand he is used to.
For this business, I stronhly suggest to train their employees to learn how to greet customers. They have to review the appt taking process. Also, change a policy to force customer to but their own garbage brand lens. My kid tried on their lens. She told me it is uncomfortable right after wearing their brand. She did not feel anything when wearing Acuvue. Then, why do they keep asking wearing their brand!!! should top forcing customer to buy their own brand ! You may find many complaints about this. Let customers keep their preferred and most best fitting brand! If there is no issue with their current brand, no reason to change the brand!
Finally, if you google this business, you will see customer rating of 4.6. It seems to be fake because I cannot join in rating survey! Rather, check a site operated by third party. consumeraffairs. com You will see many people complaint (similar reason). the rating is...
Read moreI wont be returning to this place again. I scheduled an eye exam online. When I got there a few minutes early for my appt, the staff was super nice and friendly (They are the only reason for the 2 stars and if I could rate the staff 5 stars I would). When I got to see the doctor for my actual exam, he sat me in the chair and we talked a couple seconds. I could tell he was rushing to get done. I mentioned that I was diabetic and he got upset with me. Blamed me for not checking the box that I was diabetic. I said but I did. I even listed the medications that I was taking. (The whole reason for this visit was to check my eyes because of my diabetes) He pulled his computer up and said no see if you would have checked it, this on my screen would have been purple. I cant dilate your eyes as I dont have time, I have to leave at such and such time. Then looked at the paper print out and realized that I DID check the diabetes box and it was their mistake that I didn't show up as purple on his computer screen. So he said he would try to "squeeze" me in. So he dilated my eyes and sat me out in a waiting room for 5 mins. brought me in and checked my eyes saying everything was perfect. I took my current contacts with me so he had my prescription and for as long as I have been in glasses, I have had astigmatism in my right eye. He tells me both of my eyes are the same prescription and i no longer have astigmatism. I take his word for it and order contacts and just use up my insurance allowance on this contact prescription and think this is great that they both are the same now.
Next day I put my new contacts in and things are FUZZY. my right eye is definitely off. I contact them and say something isn't off. I googled can astigmatism go away on its own and was not shocked to see it doesn't. So the Doctor not only got my prescription for my right eye wrong, I had to make a 2nd trip in and see the doctor. Thinking surely he would spend some time to correct his mistake. Nope he spoke to the staff and gave them another contact to have me try that is for astigmatism. During the fitting of that contact the DR came over. I thought he was going to apologize or what not but no, he came over to use the computer to log out and leave.
This guy clearly doesn't care about his patients, and only concerned with getting off work. I get that you have hard outs that you have to leave for things. But then don't schedule yourself so busy and maybe slow down and take your time so you don't have customers having to come BACK IN and waste more of your time. So not only did I have to make arrangements for someone to pick up my kid the 2nd trip in, and spend the gas and my time going back in, I also had to order the contacts and pay for them out of my pocket because I used up my allowance buying what I was told was the contacts for both eyes. Now I have a bunch of left eye contacts and 1 box of right eye contacts.
I also have zero faith and my diabetic doctor also has zero faith that my eye exam was done correctly that they have asked me to have another exam done by a different doctor.
Again the staff was A+ nice and friendly and helpful. Dr couldn't have cared less that I was there, only cared about logging out...
Read moreIf I could give my experience 0 stars I would. I went in for my appointment, checked in, and was told by the receptionist that she had my benefits printed out and she looked at them and went over them while I stood at the front desk to be checked in. Her exact words to me were "looks like everything is covered for you here except medically necessary contacts." I then went in with a technician and did the first part of my eye exam and they asked if I wanted the retinal exam and it would be $20 out of pocket. I said yes as I was under the impression that that was the only thing I would be paying for out of pocket at this appointment. I then went in the with Optometrist and did my exam there. After being done with the Optometrist I was taken to pick out my glasses and was told by Beth, the assistant manager, that my eye exam was actually not covered and I would need to pay out of pocket for it bringing my total cost for the visit to $90. As I was not expecting to pay this cost and was under the impression from the front desk that everything else was covered I was very frustrated with the situation and felt blindsided. I then explained to Beth what the receptionist told me and she said reception actually doesn't know about benefits and I further explained that she looked at my benefits in front of me and if she does not know anything about them or how to read them she should not be allowed to speak on them as that was false advertisement. Beth then lets me know they also don't bill health insurance as it seemed that is where my eye exam would be covered. So I asked if I didn't pay for my exam and just didn't receive my results if I could walk out without paying for the exam. Beth said I had to pay for the exam. So I payed and left. I then called customer service the following day, explained everything and they apologized for it. The woman I spoke with on the phone let me know there actually was in fact a waiver I could have signed to not get my results and not pay for the eye exam. After calling back Americas Best in Rossford I spoke with Beth, the assistant manager, a few times and explained to her what customer service told me. She said she would look into it and would get back with me after speaking to her manager. I received a call back a few days later and she told me there was nothing they were going to do to help me nor to make this right. She states she had never heard of this form and would talk to her manager and get back with me. I received a call back a few hours later and she still had no better answer for me except to say that the manager had spoken to the district manager and they were not going to help me resolve this. I will not be going back to give this company my business as they clearly do not care to make THEIR mistakes correct. I hope this helps someone else in not trusting what they say about their benefits as it seems they just want to get money out of you one...
