I think it would be impossible to say that this company didn’t make every effort to make things right. Jim reached out to me and asked if he could come out to assess the situation and see what, if anything needed to be done to make things right. He was out Tuesday and felt like he had a full understanding of what went wrong, how it should have been approached from the start, and asked if I would let him try to make things right. He looked into a part and made a VERY generous offer on pricing and said he would come back and install it as soon as it arrived. He came today and put in it. He explained the entire situation as well as performed a full servicing of the dryer including cleaning and oiling it , and made sure it was in good working order. By the way, this was clearly no small task. He was friendly and informative throughout. I have yet to run a load of clothes but feel like the work was done right. Things can go wrong and to me, that is a given. What is not, is someone trying to make it right. I have got to hand it to Berkley Appliance and Repair . They made things right.
ORIGINAL ISSUE-Had them out today to take a look at my dryer as it stopped heating and give a price on new timer because the timer has not been working for some time and we were tired of setting the kitchen timer and stopping it manually. The dryer would run fine but as of Sunday there was no heat. The technician arrived and turned it on, trying a few settings and turning the dial, checking if it was heating while I talked about what was going on then left him to do what he needed. I checked in a couple minutes later and noticed he had the top off and was still checking it out. Shortly after that, I heard a loud Bang and him say "what was that?!" . When I checked on him he said the breaker had blown when he plugged the dryer back in after putting it back together . After a little longer he came upstairs and told me the estimate was going to be over $410 for a timer and he thinks the timer being broken was causing the dryer not to heat. Since that's close to the cost of a new dryer, I declined and let him know I'd likely just be getting a new one. He then informed me that the dryer would not turn back on, and that I should not plug the dryer back in and have an electrician come out before I plug this or a new dryer in to that outlet as, "...it's only getting 120 volts and should be getting 240." . On top of that, he wanted me to sign an invoice that said the service was done satisfactorily and the equipment was in good condition when it states right on the invoice the dryer will not turn on now. In short, since they "serviced" my dryer that resulted in BLOWING A CIRCUIT upon plugging back in, I'm out $89.00 for the service call, I need an electrician AND a new dryer as I'm sure this one is now even more broken. Called to talk to the owner but was told he will not be around for a...
Read moreI called around for my mother to see if we could get her whirlpool washer repaired or if it was even worth repairing as in if most of the parts were high priced 3 or 4 hundred dollars it would not be worth paying. well the lady who answered the phone was not very friendly and simple went by her script of 65$ to come out plus parts and job fee to install the parts. so it seemed like they could repair the washer and dryer without and issues after it was diagnosed. we had the model number lhw0050pq4 and serial number ready to give berkley; they had no interest in it even though i said i could give it to them. it seems this company just wants to collect there 65$ show up fee. as in they charge 65$ just to come look at your washer and it does not go towards anything else. (I get charged less for a full price office visit at the doctors office.) i found out after they told us they could not fix the washer that berkely only sources parts from 4 places even though the internet is abundant with parts. berkley claimed only the four sources they get parts from were reliable, which is ridiculous. needless to say half of the parts for the washer were not available, which they could have took a few minutes to look up the washer by the model number and told us that up front; we would have never had them come out in the first place. they are also biased to ge and whirlpool since they are not chinese companies even thought most of the parts for those brands are made in you guessed it china or not the usa. plus everyone needs to make a living. and samsung is korean. also on the internet samsung and lg get the best ratings surpassing whirlpool and ge. my mom said that paul was friendly and evan who i talked to get more information on why they could not repair it was as well. too bad they are just into taking your money, even from a retired...
Read moreAn absolute nightmare! The only reason I am giving three stars is because the tech was professional and polite during the first visit. There was a 4-5 hour window. 1st visit- Tech comes to repair my dryer and I was his last appointment. I had to leave and he was kind to come out for a second visit.
2nd visit- Tech comes and repairs dryer timer and said “you’re all set.” Total was $100 for service call and repair. Dryer still did not work.
Called and explained that the tech had just left and the dryer was not working. Rep called to reschedule.
Attempted 3rd visit- Tech called the rep and said that he was not coming to my home because I need a timer. First time hearing about a timer. I was told about the cost of the timer and was livid because no one ever mentioned the timer. The rep was rude and said that the tech tried fixing the dryer the easy way. I didn’t want easy. I wanted my dryer repaired. Ordered the part and rescheduled an appointment.
4th visit- Tech called and I missed his call for the visit today. Called the office and was told that the tech is no longer coming to my house and that another one would need to come. Rep said that I could potentially be charged another $89 service call fee because he tried to come to my home and I was not there.
All of this could have been avoided, if the tech would have fixed the issue the from the first visit. They also said that no one was home. My son was there and did not hear a knock or doorbell.
$100 down the drain and 2 days off of work for nothing.
I read the reviews and was impressed, but now I’m stressed out with trying to repair a dryer after a month of this.
Save yourself the...
