We booked Bristle Pine cabin for the week in October. We arrived and it was such an easy check in. We found the cabin, called the office and they got us in with no contact for those of you that like that. The cabin was cozy and had a hot tub. The shower is very tiny. But it was all good. Not sure this cabin will ever rent again, but be aware that there are no electrical outlets to speak of. On Wednesday we got a call from Alyx saying that the cabin had sold and we would have to be out by Friday and she had a couple of options for us and she was absolutely embarrassed to have to make that call. We talked it over and chose to go ahead and pack up on Wednesday afternoon so that we could get it over with. She told us our options and we chose Winger. She even threw in an extra night for the trouble/hassle we were caused. Winger is a very nice cabin. It is basically a 2 bedroom and has 1 very large spacious bathroom. There is a king bed in the downstairs bedroom and there is an upstairs loft with two beds that we did not need or use. There is a large soaking tub and a great BIG shower as well as plenty of counter space and mirrors and windows letting natural light in. The kitchen was better equipped than the one we moved out of. It has a very large double deck off the front of the cabin. There were electrical outlets galore and the TV has Sling on it and there are plenty of channels and it worked great. The internet did not give us any trouble either. It also had central heat and air. Winger is newer, nicer, bigger and better than Bristle Pine. Just from our experience on this trip, spend the extra $30 a night and get a nicer cabin and you will not regret it. At both locations we had deer in the yard and at Winger we had wild Turkey coming down the mountain from behind our cabin. Be aware that many of their cabins have stairs either inside, outside or both. Take that into consideration and don't hesitate to call and ask questions as it's sometimes hard to tell from the website photos. We were so happy with the way they handled the situation with the cabin selling and they really went above and beyond to make it right. Lastly, most of these cabins are not really secluded and do not offer much privacy if that is something you are looking for. We are repeat customer and have always been happy with the accomodations and the service from Alyx and Ryon and their staff. We will be back again.

Had a great time staying here. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Cubby and although a little small, it was EXTREMELY cozy and relaxing. Exactly what we wanted as a little weekend getaway. The place was clean and had two sets of clean towels for each of us, so that we could use for both shower and hot tub. We enjoyed the hot tub one day and it was extremely relaxing and the view was pretty nice. The kitchen has a very antique set up and it adds to the homey feel! There is also a fireplace inside that comes with wood that you can use, however we were not inside very often so we didn’t take advantage of that amenity! Only small complaint is the bathroom set up - it’s nearly impossible to feel any heat in the bathroom but I think an easy fix would be a plug in electric heater or something similar to sit in the bathroom when occupied! The toilet/shower area is a little small and you do feel like you kinda have to sit crooked on the toilet - maybe the set up could be changed a little but we also understand it’s part of being a small and older cabin! I do think for the likely age that the cabins should maybe be a little cheaper than the $133/night we paid. Overall, if you are trying to get away and be close to nature and relax on the simpler side of life - I would recommend!

Hubby and I stayed for 5 nights at Pine Squirrel and absolutely loved it. I'm sorry to see so many bad reviews below but our stay was wonderful. Small, cozy cabin had everything we needed. The check in and out process was contactless which I did not mind at all. The view from the cabin was beautiful which says a lot since it's one of the lower cabins. The cabin was very clean and all the blankets and towels smelled freshly washed. The bed was super comfy and the water pressure in the shower was amazing. It was stocked with utensils, dishes and pots and pans, perfect for those that want to cook and/or grill (which we did almost everyday!). Did not see any bugs inside but did see a bear a couple of times at night outside by the dumpster which was an exhilarating experience for us! I would highly recommend this cabin to others and hubby and I are already planning to come back in the winter.

We stayed at the Deer Medows and Wildflower cabins in Ruidoso NM, checked in on November 8 and left on November 13, 2022. My husband passed away the end of August and we had a cruise booked that week to celebrate his birthday (November 9th). I cancelled the cruise and booked this cabin so my family could be together that week. The management company was very helpful prior to our arrival but not after we arrived. Twice I have requested a call from the owner of the management company, and they will not call me back. I would recommend that you go to the management company’s website and read their reviews. It looks like about half of them are bad and complain about how rude the management company is. Mountain Air Cabin Rentals. This was our experience with them too. The management company’s manger told us that the cabins are only “deep clean” twice per month, give the world we are living in I would expect the cabin to be thoroughly cleaned between each guest and you pay a cleaning fee. ||The cabin is in a very nice area and centrally located to town but still feels like you are in the mountains. The cabin is nicely decorated, the kitchen is well stocked with dishes/pots pans etc. The beds were comfortable. The gas fireplace is a nice touch, so you don’t have to mess with firewood and ashes. ||It was an accumulation of things that made the trip not enjoyable. The pictures are very misleading as to the size of the cabin. When we arrived, the cabin was not clean, not the end of the world, so I cleaned it. The floor was not swept, and the rug was filthy. I swept and wiped all the counters down and washed the dishes (not knowing if they we clean or not). The shower curtain was moldy. There were huge cobwebs in the bathroom and long black hairs in/on the tub and shower surround. The hot tub cover was broken, and it took three people to lift it (it appears that it is only missing two screws), the hot tub jets only worked on low. The shower in the small cabin did not work, which makes me wonder if the tub was even cleaned. The maintenance guy was great and came out twice. There were no blankets on the beds, just a sheet and light bedspread and only sheets for the hide-a-bed. The Short-Term Rental permit in the cabin had expired over a year ago and was only for 6 people, I did not see one for the smaller cabin. There were piles of black dog hair in the cabin and trash under the couch. All of that was a disappointment but the thing that made the stay unpleasant and unacceptable was the Hide-a- bed couch. ||On the Thursday the last two of our group came in and were planning on staying two nights. And we were getting ready for bed and pulled out the bed only to find it was filthy and broken. The plastic mattress had pee and what appeared to be blood stains on it and stunk. The bottom section of the bed was broken, no support for the mattress, wires sticking out, they had tried to duct tape it back together. I called the management company, the “manager” came out. She would not even look at the things that were wrong. All she said was that the hot tub cover broke three guests ago and “since this is a mountain resort town” that there was not a repairman or a place to replace it and they were aware that the hide-a-bed was broken and that they were very expensive and not locally available, so the cabin owner was looking for one. She also said that in the listing the listing that it was only to be used for kids. The listing stated that it will sleep 8 adults nothing about kids. Why would anyone let kids sleep on the bed in those conditions? They could easily fall through the end of the bed and seriously hurt themselves on the wires that were sticking up. She also said that no one would think that adults should sleep on hide-a-beds. She said our two opens were 1) pack up and leave tonight or 2) take it as it is. Wow!!! I had to spend an extra $380 to get a hotel room for two nights since the bed was not usable. ||||They were not the cheapest nor were the most expensive, I picked them for the location and the hot tub (which was a disappointment). I could have spent less money for one without a hot tub. The manager also laughed when I told her that I would be reporting this to VRBO, her response was they will not do anything. I do find it interesting that they have changed the listing to say that the couch is for “kiddoes”, I have screen prints of the listing before the change. I will never stay at one of their managed properties again. I will be...

First, the house is in a great location. Seeing a Christmas tree first thing was amazing. At one time someone cared for this place, but that time has ENDED. You can tell because the porch railing outside are in the Swiss Chalet style. The fireplace is wonderful but, the flue is either in desperate need of cleaning or it needs a cap put on it to prevent wind backdraft. The fireplace is covered in soot. Aside of the tv and some flooring not one ounce of care or pride shows in this home. Everything is dirty and old. Upstairs shower had mold, which I had to bleach. The screen going to the porch is shredded and ripped. All of the cookware and silverware was filthy. The porch light does not work correctly, it is an old sensor light, and who wants their front porch to be mostly unlit? The furniture looks like section 8 housing, what is new shakes and wobbles, like the coffee table. The kitchen stools are loose and wobbly, and they lean in one direction. I had to clean the couch as it had food stains, the other loveseat looks like someone jumped on it, so it is shattered and lays on the floor with a bend in the middle. Both sliding doors have a broken lock that is so easy to repair. the front door control arm is pulling out of the wall, and when it does close it sticks. The appliances in the kitchen are great quality, and the TV in the main living area is fantastic. That being said the refrigerator does not stay closed because the hinge needs to be adjusted badly. The kitchen sink looks like it came from a junkyard, and the faucet drips if you don't position it exactly in one spot. The advertisement says the house comfortably sleeps 8 but there is only dishes and cutlery for 6. The carpet and floors are so dirty that our slippers and socks are pitch black and it did not come out in the wash. I had to remove four pee spots in the carpet with the provided resolve. now, welcome to 1978 paneling heaven! There doesn't seem to be any desire to give this home any personality. However downstairs where is decorated, someone thought an impressionist painting of Venice would be the perfect match for here. Also, if you come here in the winter bring a ton of blankets, as there are next to none here, unless you want to cook yourself in the heat, which only has one zone. So in the winter it is 80 degrees upstairs and freezing downstairs. Washer and dryer are awesome. The devil is in the details and the devil is winning here because no one paid attention. The clock up on the wall is wrong, and the vent above it is rusted and filthy. Last, when we arrived the cabinets and countertop had the Formica separating from them, which I also fixed. One more detail, not one usb plug in the house besides the one in the furniture in the master. If the owner is paying a management company for this, they are getting robbed. Its not that this place is not ok, but in the higher end of the range of the rentals, it is not worth half of what you are paying. This needs an owner and management company that takes pride in Ruidoso...

We had a cabin reserved through Mountain Air Cabins for my daughter's Spring Break in March 2020. Alas, COVID-19 lockdowns commenced a couple weeks before our visit, and New Mexico became a walled fortress, dooming visitors to 14 days of segregated quarantine. A couple weeks ahead of our trip I called Mountain Air Cabins and explained our conundrum with the quarantines affecting our trip. The customer service lady who took our call had obviously heard this story many times before. "We need to cancel our trip, but perhaps we can reschedule after the COVID restrictions are loosened," I told her. "Sure, I understand," she responded. Through the trials and tribulations of 2020 the Governor of New Mexico maintained extensive restrictions on travelers from other states, so we had no opportunity to reschedule our visit to Ruidoso.||A year later in February 2021, the COVID situation had much improved. New Mexico was at the forefront of US states in terms of COVID-19 vaccination rates. New Mexico's Governor relented at long last, and reopened the state to visitors.||I was planning a getaway over my daughter's Spring Break, once again. I checked the Mountain Air Cabins website, and found that the same cabin I'd reserved a year earlier was available. Optimistically I called Mountain Air Cabins, hoping to book that cabin. The lady who answered my call was helpful: "Yes, it's available, I'll put in your booking." Great, I thought. "That'll be $XXXX." Hm. "Well, could you please check my records," I said, "We put in a $400 deposit last year and had to cancel due to the pandemic restrictions."||"Okay, let me see... Yes, I see that you had this cabin booked, and that you cancelled due to COVID."||I asked her, "Can we get some credit for our deposit last year?"||"Well, I don't see any notes about that in your record," she replied. "We've been processing a lot of rebookings, but I don't see any notes in your record that indicate that you have a credit."||I pushed a bit, "Surely you're giving credits to other people who cancelled due to COVID."||"I'm not authorized to do that, only the owner can do that, and she's away," she responded.||We went back and forth a bit, with her telling me that the owner of the business was the only person who could authorize a credit, and she was away on travel.||I eventually booked our trip to Flagstaff instead of to Ruidoso. No refund, and no credit from Mountain Air Cabins. Maybe the lady I spoke to about our reservation was completely correct in that she didn't have authorization to give me credit for the $400 we'd deposited the year before. But then that I take to be a failure of management, a failure of customer service, of commitment to service.||I'm very disappointed with my experience with...
