Not sure who all has been eating at Coe’s Steakhouse in Russell Springs. But if you have, do you have any taste buds left? That place was terrible. Pops and the wife both had Catfish that was bad because pops almost puked from one bite. And this man loves fried fish. Everything was unseasoned but seasoning couldn’t save it. I had a burger called the Smithburger that tasted like powdered latex gloves. The only thing edible was the side of Cajun fries I had. Even the drinks were nasty. Wife and I both started with sweet tea that wasn’t even brewed. They said it came from a carton. (It didn’t taste remotely like tea) Then I got a Ski and she got Dr Pepper which didn’t taste like Dr Pepper. My ski tasted like a mix between mtn dew and mellow yellow but watery. The cups were gross and not cleaned well. Condensation is clear not white as paint that smears when you wipe it. The waitress was nice but anytime we requested anything she would go off and be gone 10 minutes then I’d catch her running the register. I had to get up and request things from other staff that wasn’t doing anything but standing around. Believe me. I wanted to give this place a shot because 10 years ago it was the best place to eat but now I wouldn’t even feed my dog the stuff that comes out of this place. Also we had the hardest time getting Pops in there because the place isn’t...
Read moreI grew up in this small town, Russell Springs, KY. and every time I go home for a visit I have to go to this family owned restaurant, Coe's Steakhouse for their famous cornbread battered catfish. I never eat fish at a seafood restaurant. Not even when I go to the coast. I get fried or coconut shrimp. And the staff are full of smiles. In my teenage years, I used to pick up my two friends from work when they worked there over the weekend. People come from all over the USA to go out on the lake that was formed when they dammed up the Cumberland River in the early 1950's.. This is known as Wolf Creek Dam that made Lake Cumberland. Which runs through seven different counties. With 1,200 miles of shoreland. Stocked with catfish. But if you can't catch any, just run on up to Coe's Steakhouse 2281 Lakeway Dr, Russell Springs, KY 42642 and have their delicious catfish, which , in my opinion, is the best all over the world. Hands Down. One of the only places you can get home comes food at fast...
Read moreFloor was greasy, so my chair was sliding. To be fair, it was wet from rain, but the chair wasn't sliding from water. It was from grease on the floor. The catfish and greens were good. The Pinto beans were watered down. One of the two hush puppies were cold to the point I think they were taken out of the fridge, and the cook forgot to warm them up in the microwave, which makes them hard. So, the hush puppies were not fresh at all. The cornbread was cold corn fritters. Also, it's not fresh. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed, but there was one waitress helping out all the other waitresses. She was working so hard she was drenched in sweat, which was not appetizing either. I think I came in a very busy night. I doubt they gave their best impression. I may give it one more try sometime to see if tonight was a fluke. The owner who was running the cash register seemed like a very nice man, and I enjoyed his...
