The store is nice overall however my recent experience here was not the best over the weekend. My husband was gifted some items from this store, we went to exchange them (shirt and hat) as they were too big. When we did the exchange we handed the clerk a gift receipt and told her a few times that the items were a gift from a friend to my husband. Somehow she was able to only exchange the shirt correctly and refunded the hat to the card that it was charged to and then tried to charge my husband for the hat. We reminded her the item was a gift and she said she could not do anything about it since she refunded the original charge. Unfortunately my husband had to leave the store without a hat because she could not correct her mistake. It is really upsetting knowing he was gifted a shirt and hat but had to leave the hat behind because of her mistake after we clearly handed her a gift receipt and told her the items were gifted. Some more training on how to do exchanges may be needed to avoid this...

Darren went above and beyond helping me with a replacement item my sister gifted me. His dedication and kindness made the process seamless, and I can't thank him enough. When I stopped by today for the exchange, I instantly fell in love with the gorgeous water shoes displayed at the entrance. Kaitlyn was incredibly helpful—not only with the purchase but also with thoughtful tips on how to wear them comfortably. Her enthusiasm and knowledge made the experience even better. As fellow local business owners, we deeply value supporting other local gems, and Backwater Provisions is one of the best. There's something special about being helped by people who genuinely care and know their community. Thank you, Darren and Kaitlyn—I'm forever...
Read moreDarren the owner is so extremely nice, and knowledgeable about the products in his store. From grill accessories, to clothing, to tackle and fishing gear - he’s got a lot of great stuff in there and can answer any questions you’d have. I’m in a wheelchair and I could easily access all of his store, the layout is easy to get around in. There’s no clutter, and there’s so many pieces of cool art on the walls. The shop is right in safety harbor, a beautiful place, friendly people, and plenty to do with it being right by a pier you can fish off of. They do fly and knot tying nights for beginners who interested in fishing. They also have a big grill event pretty often. I’d...
