Fraser Leonard Art Gallery — Attraction in Saint Charles

We bought a storage unit that had a beautiful piece of Mr Leonard's artwork inside. It had been abused by the previous owners and I was afraid that we'd just have to throw it away. My husband, who is a retired police detective, did some research on the artist and then told me that he was alive and lived an hour and a half away from us. He left a message for him and I thought, "yeah, like he's ever going to return our phone call." Well, a couple hours later I had to eat my words. It was Fraser Leonard himself calling, and he confirmed that the pictures my husband had sent him were indeed of a piece of work that he had created a long time ago. We agreed to meet with him a few days later with the piece so he could assess the condition and recommend our best next step. Most "salesmen" would try to make as much profit from this situation as possible, especially if you knew you could easily take advantage of the situation, however he did not. In fact he stretched the canvas, cleaned it up, resigned it for a second time, and then put a coat of polymer on it and he did not charge us anything for it. Mr Leonard is very receptive, nice and outgoing. I visited his gallery with my toddler and he was super welcoming. He explained us some of his inspirations, showed us his work and even gave us some candy, a flower and a beautiful printed poster of his Jesus Christ art that he has prepared to gift all the visitors. The gallery is gorgeus! His colors are incredible and I left the place with my heart full of joy. The art I could see made me feel happy and peacefull. We entered with an eleven-year-old who loved a particular sculpture and were met with a wildly rude attitude about the photo policy and then proceeded to be lectured by the artist about his credentials. I too am a professional artist and my partner is an art teacher and we were shocked by how exceedingly unfriendly and unhelpful this artist was.
