first off, the service was $265 for an all over color and cut which was fine. On the day of my first appointment, my stylist Tayllor Gaboury, said she didn't carry the color I had asked for. this already set us off on the wrong foot as I had scheduled a couple days prior to her message (you would think to message your client earlier if you don't carry colorful hair dyes to avoid situations like these). I told her that we could reschedule the following saturday to do my hair. On a Thursday afternoon (2 day before my second appointment), I had messaged her asking if she had my color. While messaging, she told me for the service I asked for would be $100 per/hr I was there to get my hair done (when the site said the service would be $265). I was confused as on her booking site, it says nowhere that i would have to do that. I went through with the appointment as I couldn't cancel, and it's safe to say that my hair is not what I asked for. I wanted a cherry red-ish pink, and it came out orangey-yellow (she didn't lift my hair right). My head was not even at all, whereas some parts of my head did hold the pink, but it was very splotchy. Not only was my color wrong, she completely missed a part of my head where it wasn't bleached or dyed. She failed to cut my hair how I wanted as well (I told her maybe 3-4 times to cut more layers, but eventually got irritated with how it was going). I wanted many layers and to this day, my hair is still straight/ there are literally no layers. When styling my hair, It felt like she was trying to milk time to charge me more (like it doesn't take 4-5 minutes to blowdry a small part of my hair to do a blowout). Did I mention she was almost 2 hours late? She offered to take off $65 as an apology for being late, but added it back on after for going 20-ish minutes over our scheduled 5 hour appointment(which wouldn't have happened if she hadn't taken so long to style my hair). a week after that appointment, my hair was straight orange. I asked for a partial refund (for all the inconveniences that occured) as I am not happy with my hair at all, but it was declined. The most she said she could do was fix my roots (which was funny because i literally don't trust her with my hair after that experience). Don't go to Meraki Hair Lounge, It sucks. Thank you Tayllor for ruining my birthday gift!
edit; if you cant do colored / poc hair, just decline. I wouldve much rather (preferred) if you told me you couldn't. Now you're stuck with this review, and someone who isnt happy...
Read moreThis salon is nestled in one of my favorite areas of Saint Paul with plenty of street parking. I was blown away by the beauty and attention to detail in the salon’s design. The open concept combined with the size of the space allows for your conversations with your stylist to still feel private.
I came in to see Maya for a cut and color. When I first made my appointment, I was going in for a blonde touch up. After seeing some of Maya’s recent work with copper/red, I wanted to switch things up myself! She was flexible and communicative, making the adjustment to my appointment an easy transition.
Change can be scary. I was blonde for the past six years, but the second I sat down in Maya’s chair, she walked me through the color process in a way that made me confident and ready for the shift.
I couldn’t be happier with the services I received from Maya. I felt much more confident walking out of the salon than when I did walking in. Maya’s approach with meeting a client with where there at, with realistic expectations and providing styles in a way that is friendly for someone to style at home is a refreshing experience I haven’t found in any previous hair dressers of mine.
Thank you Maya for a great experience and for boosting my confidence. I will most certainly be returning to her at this...
Read moreI was so happy with my first haircut appointment with Pa in May this year. I learned about Meraki from instagram and was so excited when I saw a hairstylist of color at Meraki in St. Paul. As a woman of color of South Asian heritage, I wanted someone who would understand my hair needs. I appreciated how she asked me questions about my preferences and also what had worked and hadn’t worked with my previous stylists. She took time to explain in detail what she recommended. She answered all my questions on the products she was using and shared styling tips. Even though it was my first appointment with her, I felt very comfortable with her. She was warm and friendly and seemed very knowledgeable on what she was doing.I absolutely loved how she cut and styled my hair. I highly recommend Pa to anyone who is looking for a...
